Really since the pandemic, π cities just seem like they have been going in the wrong direction. They just aren’t as clean, with more vandalism and graffiti everywhere, more dirt and pollution. Some people want to blame the partisans of the other side, but it seems like things are worse then were a few years back when cities were starting to turn the corner. Delmar is getting back to normal but it’s just Albany. Maybe I forgot how bad old Albany was during my time working from home and avoiding downtown during the pandemic.
I wanted to walk at six o’clock in Delmar, β° but the mornings as so dark now that we are in September. Plus it’s kind of a gray day as the rain pulled out. But at least I got my steps in yesterday, and with walking the plaza today I should have my steps in.
Last night was a Save the Pine Bush Meeting over Zoom which I participated in then retired to bed early π as it was a dark and damp night, although not so wet that I couldn’t walk. Had Ziti for dinner. π₯ It was good, enough to have tonight too or save for a day or two. I do need to go shopping relative soon but I can squeeze a few more nights out of the pantry until this weekend I am thinking. Or maybe at lunch time I could run up to the supermarket, to avoid a trip. β½ That said, gas prices have come down a fair bit.
Neil Hellman is mostly remembered for his philanthropy in his later years but he made most of his wealth as a tough as nails developer who more than once went up against the Corning machine and lost.
Dick Patrick was Erastus Corning's urban planner, the city's first. A very colorful character, came out of the 1960s and was known as a polymeth like Erastus Corning.
