Sales of Big S.U.V.s Pulling the Weight at General Motors
General Motors introduced a few years back, a small compact known as the Chevrolet Corvair with an innovative rear-engine design to compete with the small European cars that were growing in popularity. We know how that went.
In contrast, their big cars, like the Chevy Impala and the Oldsmobile 88s continued to be success, and were known for their high-quality.
I think the domestic automakers should focus on larger cars, and leave the smaller ones up to the cheap imports, which serve a certain marketplace. Then focus on reducing automobile use in urban areas, to reduce emissions and global warming gases.
