Industrial Tourism Analysis in Desert Solitaire | LitCharts

Industrial tourism is the process by which an attraction like a national park is developed and modernized in order to make the location more appealing and accessible for tourists. Industrial tourism is a lucrative endeavor for the government and construction firms, as it brings thousands of motorists through America’s national parks. By building roads, modern camping facilities, ticket booths, and the like, the National Park Service makes tourists’ visits more comfortable and can then charge them higher admission rate.

The parks…

Maybe I’ve been reading too much Edward Abbey but I think the solution to the national parks is napalm dropped on the gift shops, interpretive centers, dinning halls and hotels and running a milling machine over the asphalt roads and parking lots and letting the lawns go abandoned thrand revert back to woods. That’s the best way to cut spending on parks.

The best way to destroy a wild land is to turn it into a park. The second best way is to turn it into a legislatively defined wilderness.

The nearness of rejection πŸ‘ŽπŸ‘ŽπŸ»πŸ‘ŽπŸ½

Out for a walk this morning at Five Rivers after a quick morning bike ride before the almost certain rain showers later today. Much rain, it’s too be seen but I needed a break from days spent in the wilderness plus we need some rain so it’s safer the next time I head up to the wilderness to have a fire.

Gray and kind of humid this morning out walking at Five Rivers. 🍁 The summer colors are fading fast as we get into the meat of September though some years Labor Day is later then today. But it’s been a cool and dry late summer in the Albany area and we are rapidly losing light in the evenings.

I was so upzst that my data request was denied yesterday πŸ’Ύ but you have to ask. I get why it was exempt from disclosure but after such a successful run of getting data from state agencies and linking it in the system I was pretty disappointed. I shouldn’t be, you have to ask and if rejected walk on by and don’t linger. I want perfection but that never exists in the world. Maybe that’s why I am so afraid of Facebook dating. β˜• I need to ask potentially interesting girls to coffee house and if they’re interested spend $10 and if not move on to the next one. β™₯️ I know I am not going win on everyone and maybe the one that says no never was right in the first place. I’ve done so many neat things with my agency since I took it over and people are noticing but changing slowly. 🐒 Government operates at government speed.

Last night I was at Five Rivers 🐸 after work at the Fisher Boulevard parcel until 7:15 pm with the early sunset πŸŒ‡ and not knowing how well charged the lights were on my bike. It was a pretty evening and the full πŸŒ• moon was impressive and I wish I had spent it in the wilderness πŸ•οΈ but I need a break from the beer 🍻 and weed πŸ€ in the woods as I’m getting a bit chubby though riding the bike 🚲 to work every day and not eating processed food 🍲 really helps but I want to get from that 215 lb in the scale βš–οΈ back to below 200 lb which is much less than the 260 or 270 lb a few years ago.

I finished up Edward Abbey’s Monkey Works Gang πŸ› οΈ audio book last night and promptly got out another Abbey book, Desert Solitaire. I have so many books πŸ“š to read though there are so many distractions at home. I don’t know. Maybe tomorrow I’ll find somewhere to hang a hammock and read πŸ“– for a while.
