Eastern Albany Pine Bush Summits Over 325 Feet

This map shows the 300 or so points in the Albany Pine Bush Study Area, that are above 325 feet in elevation and are a prominence around the surrounding land. The landfill is the highest peak at 432 feet above sea level, while Overlook Dune near the Albany Pine Bush Discovery Center tops out at 374 feet above sea level. The highest dune can be seen from the Traux Trailhead on Kings Road, which tops out 390 feet above sea level.

Data Source: Albany County LIDAR Digital Elevation Models. Dune peaks obtained by using the GRASS plugin in QGIS with r.param.scale, method=feature, then r.reclass to remove anything but value=6 to create peaks, then r.tovect to convert to vector areas, then used zonal statistics to find the maximum value on the peak, then extracted the centroids of the polygons.

I had an avocado to start off breakfast πŸ₯‘

Despite all the fears of the liberals who are afraid their daily avocado toast will go from $22.50 to $27.32, I bought a bag of avocados at Walmart for $2.76 this week maybe as an fuck you to the liberals who were deathly afraid that their favorite yuppie breakfast was going to go more expensive. How on earth can I be woke without my avocado toast at the fine cafe down street each morning say the yuppies? Plus it’s healthy fat I tell myself, good and filling. I often bring a sliced one in for lunch, but it was too hard most of week but now they’re all starting to go soft, maybe I should put them in the fridge.

So it’s going to be a rainy weekend. β˜‚ Just another one, though maybe not as windy and fairly mild, though also not warm. It’s cold in my apartment all week as the heat is off and so is my neighbor’s heat as he’s out of town, so no free heat is leaking into my unit, not that much does since they renovated his unit and actually installed some insulation which my apartment lacks in much quantity. Somewhat chewy Oatmeal – Whole Wheat pancakes, didn’t have any carrots left to add in. πŸ₯ž Topped off with some frozen pineapple 🍍 and sugar-free syrup. Still need to get some of the real stuff from a sap house this thing. I don’t really do the toast thing, occasionally I’ll make french toast but only when my homemade bread is getting really stale. My toasted died years ago – it got wet and something shorted out years ago, I took it apart but I couldn’t find the fault. Really it was a kitchen gadget I didn’t need nor do I plan to ever replace.

One of the rear taillights bounced off my bike last night, πŸ”¦ so I think I’m going to ride down to the park and look for it this morning. And then maybe out to Five Rivers or somewhere else, but it’s not a real nice day and I’m convinced that I have all day before the rain returns. πŸ“š I am thinking if I get down to the library in the morning, there is a good chance I can get a desk where I like to work, so I might go down there for a few hours before coming home and reading some books on my phone. And then just kind of lay low. I don’t have a lot of money in my checking account since retirement, investments, car insurance and the rent check, so I’m trying to minimize expenses though Monday I’ll probably go to store and need groceries. The COLA check is a week from Monday, which is retroactive to January 1st which will help with the tax bill.

Why Do We Get So Much Lumber From Canada? | Family Handyman

In 2024, our country got about 72% of its lumber from its own forests. The rest was imported from various countries, especially Canada, from which we purchased 28.1 million cubic meters last year.

According to the US Department of Commerce, Canada accounts for 84.3% of all softwood lumber imports, followed by Germany (6.1%), Sweden (2.8%) and Brazil (1.4%).
