Wandering Jew

The other day when I was visiting with John Wolcott in Colone, he gave me this Wandering Jew plant which after a few weeks of slow growth has been growing quickly with the bright sunlight.

48 years ago parts of New York got ten feet of snow β˜ƒοΈ

A few years before my time but crazy never the less…

The blizzard of 1977 hit Western New York, Central NY, Northern NY, and Southern Ontario from January 28 to February 1 of that year.

Daily peak wind gusts ranging from 46 to 69 mph (74 to 111 km/h) were recorded by the National Weather Service in Buffalo, with snowfall as high as 100 in (254 cm) recorded in areas, and the high winds blew this into drifts of 30 to 40 ft (9 to 12 m).

There were 23 total storm-related deaths in Western New York, with five more in northern New York.

That was a pretty good snow squall earlier β˜ƒοΈ

Probably not a day for riding in. Maybe in the evening I’ll walk laps in the Plaza as I didn’t get a real early start, my thoughts drifting into the news of the day and I got reading the newspapers and magazines on my phone.

The day before my forty second birthday πŸŽ‚, riding the express bus downtown. The clouds push across the sun and wind blows 🌬️ the snow 🌨️ as the salt spreaders do their thing. Going to get progressively colder as the day goes on. Then a few inches of snow for my birthday but so mild that it won’t stick on the roads or last long. Then rain for Friday. Maybe it will be back on the bike trail 🚲 come next Monday. I don’t mind the cold but I do not like that wind, especially when I’m riding up Erie Boulevard where there is zero protection from the wind. πŸ₯Ά

I got thinking about the issues I was having linking some of the records πŸ’Ύ yesterday and figured out a solution that will work. Then next week it’s moving onwards to the February update of the database. I do not love the month of February β™₯️ and will be glad when it’s done. I’m hoping to get out to Madison County for President’s Day Weekend but a lot depends on the weather. πŸ•οΈ Can’t be too much snow, too cold or rain. So that rules out three fifths of the winter. I’m looking forward to warmer weather come April and getting up to the East Branch Scandaga. πŸ”₯ Mostly for that big bonfire I’m planning but also I really like it up there despite the road noise, wandering around Fox Lair 🦊 and the Simease Pond Wilderness. πŸŒ„
