Just a reminder… 🌎

Politicians aren’t taking climate change seriously because they know how big of a problem it is and how unpopular and costly the solutions truly are.

Don’t wait for the politicians to act on climate change. They won’t. Don’t waste your money on virtue signaling by buying grid tied solar panels or organic food. It won’t help the problem.

Be prepared to be impacted by climate change sooner than later. Expect more power outages and food shortages at the store. Expect more damage to your land and property due to all forms of extreme weather – heavy bursts of rain and flash flooding in the east, extreme wildlife risk in the west.

Best to be self reliant. Live off grid or at least have a generator. Own less stuff likely to be destroyed in severe weather. Have a tractor with a front end loader to repair wash outs and bury debris. Grow, produce and harvest more of your own food. Keep money in the bank rather than physical assets easily destroyed in severe weather.

Political Activism

I used to be a lot more involved in political activism back in the day. But I’ve lost interest and have frankly been turned off by some much of the political ideology that goes along with it. I don’t like the idea of supporting groups that have only one limited world view on our country and are unwilling to see beyond what their group believes is right.

Maybe I’m too much of an iconoclast, too ready to jump ship when I only agree on seven out of ten points. Maybe I’m just too comfortable on where I stand today that I don’t feel like being involved with political movements is that important. Maybe loud and obnoxious protests aren’t my style.

Things could change in the Trump era. I like the man the lot but I am concerned with some of his policies and what they mean for the future of our country. Maybe I will be back out on the streets demanding change. Or maybe I’ll just go back in my fishing rod and shotgun, and forget about the world around me.
