Good evening! Cloudyand 32 degrees in Delmar for the evening walk. โ Calm wind. The sidewalks are a bit icy from the freezing rain earlier and I’m sure the news media is declaring the slippery roads a dire emergency that deserves governmental action but I’m like whatever, stay home or use caution. I’m glad I ran to the store ๐ฌ yesterday.
The truth is with my new boots – which are finally broke in ๐ฅพ I have decent traction on the ice and the freezing rain is kind of mixed in Delmar so it’s not super icy yet. And it’s getting warmer. I seriously thought about skipping my evening walk ๐ถ but lately I’ve been on a roll with my steps ๐ฃ and I didn’t want to have a down day. You know how those steps apps can get your butt moving.
It was a very typical psuedo Monday at the office ๐ข. I ended up running late and catching the later local to work ๐ and then doing the walk of shame into my office though I don’t think any the other directors caught me coming in late. I’m usually one of the first ones in as I take the express bus and then walk the Plaza before work so I’m usually in well before nine. Busy left work at 6:15 pm and it was raining hard this evening. I’m definitely noticing that the days are getting longer and are sunnier in the evening.

I was reading that January 22nd is the Lunar New Year ๐ that is the big Chinese celebration that the western press either will chew out saying it’s going to lead to bad air pollution in China ๐จ๐ณ or as a super spreader event for the COVID with everybody having some fun. ๐ As because everybody in the press is a Debbie Downer about fun when it’s not America ๐บ๐ธ. Honestly though I’m excited about the year of the rabbit ๐ฐ. I was reading the horoscopes for the year, the complete psuedo science they are, just for fun.

Bright blue skies, hoar frost on the trees, made for a perfect back drop over Chittning Pond this Martin Luther King Day. Warm temperature meant that ice was too thin for ice fishing, but still provided a colorful backdrop to the deep blue skies.
The United States Air Force conducted radar and related research and development at the Verona Research Facility for a 35-year period following World War II. The property includes over 500 acres of land developed with 27 buildings varying in size from small power houses to multi-story office and lab buildings up to 20,000 square feet. Operations on the property ceased by 1998 and the Site has been unoccupied since that time.
Lu Engineers, under direct contract with the USAF, has been investigating and remediating various portions of the NYSDEC listed Verona in active Hazardous Waste Site since 2000. During that time, we have remediated several soil and groundwater plumes including chlorinated solvents, PCBs, pesticides and motor fuel. We have remediated all occurrences of PCBs in electrical equipment and elsewhere and completed surveys, plans and specifications for asbestos abatement and demolition of the dilapidated structures on the property. We have also prepared bid documents and cost estimates to facilitate abatement and demolition. We are currently finishing the process of de-listing the Site with the NYSDEC and remediating the last of the hazardous building materials remaining. This work will facilitate transfer of the property by the USAF to the federal General Services Administration.
Good morning! Happy Tuesday from back in the cesspool. New York let’s go chase that money. Partly sunny and 21 degrees in Delmar for the morning walk ๐ถ on this third week of January after the long weekend, which seemed too short. Calm wind. Things will start to thaw out at around 11 am. ๐ก๏ธAnd then more rain this evening. I will pack my umbrella for the evening commute.
It’s back to work after the long weekend. ๐ง๐ป๐ผ Already got paid for the weeks gone by. Memories of the weekend come and gone loom large. Despite the thermostat set at fifty in my apartment I was much too warm with the heat. โจ I felt like a husky brought inside in the freezing weather. I’m sure I’ll feel hot all day in the office ๐ข and I’ll have my fan running.

Got paid this morning ๐ธ before I could even get out of bed and look ๐ at the NY Post cover on the wall from Dan Halloran and the ducking money and his hair brained scheme to sell the New York City mayor-ship. If you are planning on putting a knife ๐ก though some ones back make sure you actually will be successful at killing them. Usually it’s the dumb criminals that get caught. Smart ones amend the law โ so their conduct is lawful.
Running a bit late on my morning walk so I had to walk past the smoking cars ๐ past the high school ๐ธ but whatever. I am taking the local ๐ to work so I have a bit of extra time to iron my shirt, take a shower ๐ฟ and pack a lunch. ๐ฅช I’m not going to pack a dinner, I’m hopeful it won’t be too late of a night. But I don’t care, once I get home ๐ก if it’s not raining I’ll do my evening walk ๐ถ and then head to bed after dinner.
Solar noon ๐ is at 12:06 pm with sun having an altitude of 26.6° from the due south horizon (-44.2° vs. 6/21). It just back to the grind, ๐ ๐ข ๐ and Madison County was so nice but I know I’m working for a better future ๐ฎ. I was fortunate enough to have a job that I could work in Madison County for a brief period of time โณ but those days came and went so quickly, just as did Dr. King’s ๐ weekend. But so be it. Not the other side of the world, I could go back there at some point in the spring. ๐ท I’m thinking though for President’s Weekend I might be back at Rennselaerville State Forest. That is five weeks off though. I can’t complain too much, just a four day week and it will be the weekend before you know it.

Fixed the chain ๐ on my wallet. I find old USB cables work good for tying my wallet to my belt and usually last a year or two. Now that’s real recycling โป and means that I don’t loose my wallet. ๐ค
Continuedmild for the weekend though Sunday will be the best day. โ Saturday, mostly cloudy, with a high near 36. Sunday, partly sunny, with a high near 40. Probably cold enough that things will be frozen on Bennett Hill though for hiking I’m thinking. Typical average high for the weekend is 32 degrees. The coldest time of the year isn’t so cold.
Looking ahead, there are 4 weeks until Valentines Day โค๏ธ when the sun will be setting at 5:27 pm with dusk at 5:54 pm. Typically, the high temperature is 36 degrees. We hit a record high of 63 back in 1946.
