Weather Update – September 7, 2022

Rain showers and clouds today. ☁️

Then we get at least one more blast of August-like weather for the second half of the week into the weekend. I am undecided, I could head out of town but I probably won’t as I just got back from the Adirondacks on Monday. Plus with work I doubt I can get away from cell service for the weekend with work.

Daily Update – September 7, 2022

Good morning! What day is it? Hump Day, of course.

Rain has stopped, mostly moved to the south where they need it more than locally.

Cloudy and 63 degrees in Albany, NY. ☁ There is a north breeze at 5 mph. πŸƒ. The dew point is 60 degrees. The skies will clear tomorrow around 6 am.

Got my steps in yesterday πŸ‘£ and I’m up early getting my steps in on the Plaza before work. It seems like lately Albany has had a growing problem with the homeless, you see more and more of them at the bus stop and at the Plaza sleeping abs leaving piles of debris.j A number of days the stairways to the Plaza has been closed due because homeless people have crapped there πŸ’© and the other day there was a very obvious prostitute πŸ‘— sitting on the steps of the State Capitol. Just gross.

Really since the pandemic, πŸ™ cities just seem like they have been going in the wrong direction. They just aren’t as clean, with more vandalism and graffiti everywhere, more dirt and pollution. Some people want to blame the partisans of the other side, but it seems like things are worse then were a few years back when cities were starting to turn the corner. Delmar is getting back to normal but it’s just Albany. Maybe I forgot how bad old Albany was during my time working from home and avoiding downtown during the pandemic.

I wanted to walk at six o’clock in Delmar, ⏰ but the mornings as so dark now that we are in September. Plus it’s kind of a gray day as the rain pulled out. But at least I got my steps in yesterday, and with walking the plaza today I should have my steps in.

Last night was a Save the Pine Bush Meeting over Zoom which I participated in then retired to bed early πŸ›Œ as it was a dark and damp night, although not so wet that I couldn’t walk. Had Ziti for dinner. πŸ₯˜ It was good, enough to have tonight too or save for a day or two. I do need to go shopping relative soon but I can squeeze a few more nights out of the pantry until this weekend I am thinking. Or maybe at lunch time I could run up to the supermarket, to avoid a trip. β›½ That said, gas prices have come down a fair bit.

Inside Fog Data Science, the Secretive Company Selling Mass Surveillance to Local Police | Electronic Frontier Foundation

A data broker has been selling raw location data about individual people to federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies, EFF has learned. This personal data isn’t gathered from cell phone towers or tech giants like Google — it’s obtained by the broker via thousands of different apps on Android and iOS app stores as part of the larger location data marketplace.

The company, Fog Data Science, has claimed in marketing materials that it has “billions” of data points about “over 250 million” devices and that its data can be used to learn about where its subjects work, live, and associate. Fog sells access to this data via a web application, called Fog Reveal, that lets customers point and click to access detailed histories of regular people’s lives. This panoptic surveillance apparatus is offered to state highway patrols, local police departments, and county sheriffs across the country for less than $10,000 per year.
