Believe it or not, rubber particulates from tires may pollute more than gasses emitted from vehicle tailpipes. Varying by compound, the emissions created by tires come in the form of expelled rubber particles which eventually reach waterways or soak into nearby soil. According to Emissions Analytics, a UK-based vehicle data specialist, tire-wear particles account for emissions at a rate 16 times greater than the maximum tailpipe emissions allowed for modern cars in the UK.
Over a tire's lifespan, it will emit an average of 1850 times more particles than the actual tailpipe emissions of a modern gas car. How did they come up with this whopping statistic? Data was collected using proprietary particulate sampling equipment over the course of 1000 real world miles in combination with precision scale weight figures on all four tires. Hundreds of brand-new and used tires in addition to various driving styles created additional variables in particulate mass emissions measurements.
Emissions Analytics cautions that such figures need careful scrutiny. "The fundamental trends that drive this ratio are: Tailpipe particulate emissions are much lower on new cars, and tire-wear emissions increase with vehicle mass and aggressiveness of driving style," the company report reads. "Tailpipe emissions are falling over time while tire wear emissions are rising as vehicles become heavier and added power and torque is placed at the driverβs disposal.
itβs not expected to last but maybe itβs saving the nicer weather for next week. Only time will tell. Seven day forecasts are pretty good these days but longer forecasts not so much so.
I think will plan to try and get my ten thousand steps by lunch time as I donβt know how wet the evening will be and may have to take the local home. I have library books to return but Iβm not sure if that will happen tonight.

A surprisingly nice morning though itβs not expected to last with rain later. But I enjoyed my walk down to the express bus even if it was running 15 minutes late through with school ending shortly that will be less of an issue.
Partly sunny and 65 degrees at the Elm Ave Park and Ride. There is a south breeze at 10 mph. . The dew point is 50 degrees.
I thought about going for my morning walk at six but I figured just catch the early express and walk the Plaza before work. Six oβclock walks do get me out earlier though. Maybe when the real summer heat starts to bake everything.
The breeze this morningis really nice walking on the Plaza. Of course it helps that itβs a casual day at work, I cut my hair really short and can wear shorts to work so it feels really nice. Now if I could only. Be doing remote work from the shores of Lake Pleasant. Say what you can say about the muzzles I did like remote work. Itβs stupid that the politicians are stuck in the old ways of doing things.
Big Redβs Service is set for Thursday which will be good before I head out of town. I am still thinking this weekend wonβt be good but I might do the Gas Up on Saturday or Sunday . Or maybe not depends on the weather and what comes up.
The following week I may take off Thursday and Friday to head up north, although a lot depends on the weather. The following Monday, Juneteenth is observed so that would be a good weekend to head out of town. I need to reinflate my truck intertube for floating down a lazy river near me.
