Why reasons I’m more inclined tovote Republican this year ð
I’m a registered Democrat. I often do split my ticket, but I generally vote more Democratic then not. But maybe I won’t be voting for many Democrats this year because of the way things are going in our country.
Censorship
Leftist politicians continue to push forwards efforts to join with multi-national media corporations to silence conservative voices and alternative perspectives, while forcing liberal views to rise to the top of social media feeds. Alternative platforms are regularly be shut down — just because the politicians in Washington don’t like alternative voices that criticize them. Leftists claim it’s racism, or terrorism, but in reality it’s criticisms of their policies that make them uncomfortable. We need a free and open internet, where ideas can be freely debated, even though ideas that are threatening and uncomfortable to those in power.
Do Gooders in Ukraine
I think US has been too concerned about being do-gooders and defending Ukraine and the humanitarian situation over there, and not enough focused on the impacts of sanctions on Russia and war involvement on the lives of ordinary Americans. While what is happening in Ukraine is tragic for the people of Ukraine, the US should be focused on helping Americans at home, not other nations.
Energy Prices
One of the most important issues for a strong economy that uplifts people is the cost of energy, which for practical purposes means fossil fuels. It stinks to high hell to buy oil and natural gas from Russia, but it’s the right thing to do for global stability and energy prices. We should be encouraging a quick resolution to the end of war in Ukraine, and if that means Russian takes over Ukraine, that’s fine. Sucks for the Ukrainian people, but it might be the right option for world and ultimately Ukraine. Shorter, quicker war, means less people hurt and damaged in Ukraine and throughout the world.
Inflation
For too long, Democrats have not taken the inflation situation seriously. Their proposals to address inflation have been but a joke — expanding government spending on child care or other welfare benefits isn’t a solution when the problem is too much cash flooding the economy from people’s pockets. Likewise, it’s hard not to blame the flush coffers of local government from the big-spending of the infrastructure bill for driving up inflation — you send tons of money to build infrastructure, it’s going to be spent, driving up prices.
Second Amendment
If you don’t believe they are coming for your guns, then this is the year that may change your mind. Radical new gun control proposals are being rammed down our throat, with the only check on power the Supreme Court. Millions of Americans will have their rights denied or curtailed, if Congress doesn’t step in and limit the power of states. A conservative majority on Congress could help the US Supreme Court to protect our rights.
Things should be improving after this morning, Sunday looks quite nice with the heat coming in on Monday. I am thinking about walking ðķ out to Five Rivers Environmental Education Center later.
Sunday looks like too nice of a day to waste but with gas prices â― what they are I doubt I’ll be heading far from home. Been thinking about possibly kayaking ðķ in the Hudson River from Albany to Troy then Sunday and on Monday heading out to the folks house, maybe doing some paddling on Lawson Lake as it will probably be too hot for much hiking. ð°
It seems like the work load this week is lighter than expected ð so I could have headed out of town but I figure save whatever fuel I can for summer trips. ðĒ Next week will be super busy in the office so I doubt I’ll get up north next weekend âš but I’m hoping by the following week for a three or four days. By then the worse of black flies season ð will be over and the water ðĶ temperatures not so cold.

Good afternoon! Happy Memorial Day Weekend ðšðļ
Not the greatest start to Memorial Day Weekend, it’s been kind of rainy on and off all morning. No real heavy rain but still hardly a banner weekend. But they say it will improve and even be hot come Sunday.
Rain showers, clouds and 73 degrees in Delmar, NY. â There is a west-northwest breeze at 8 mph. ð. The dew point is 61 degrees. The skies will clear around 4 pm.
I got to leave work at two on Friday ð which made me wish I had headed out of town as it seems like a quiet weekend. Got home, took a nap. I’ve been getting up at 5:30 am with the sunrise ð but not getting to bed as early as I should. But alas summer is not over yet.
Last night I went down to the library ð for the first time in months. With my smartphone ðą and the unlimited data plan I’m hard pressed to need the Wi-Fi much any more. After getting the SD card ðģ issue resolved, my music ðķ and apps working I’m very happy with my new phone, like it more than the old one. And heck only $35.
This morning I’m doing some reading ð and learning about spatial data with R. I’ve been thinking a lot about how to use the redist package in R to do maximum gerrymandering mostly for fun. Also been trying to learn more about spatial correlation and how to find patterns in R. ðĨ
Later on if it’s not too stormy â I am thinking about hiking out to Five Rivers. ðĶ With gas prices at five dollars a gallon ðļ I’m trying to leave Big Red ðŧ parked as much as possible. I want to save the gas money for summer months when I can spend all weekend out of town. Plus I’m due for an oil ðĒ change fairly soon.
And knowing how busy and crazy ðĪŠ next week will be at work I’m in no rush to do much of anything this weekend besides taking it slow. But I know once I get past this week things will be so much quieter for at least a few weeks. Then I know the craziness of the even year autumn won’t be far away.
This weekend hasn’t proven as busy as I feared âš and I could have headed north or to the Greens. ð But it all comes back to five dollar gas. I don’t know why I fear the pump so much – I make good money ðĩ these days but I also feel like with the money it’s a great opportunity to save and invest, especially with the markets down and stocks and bonds becoming more affordable. ð
I just know personal restraint and hard work today ð§ðŧâðž means a better tomorrow. I see within ten to fifteen years owning my own land, looking out on livestock grazing ðŪ ðū living a life based on reality rather than escape. A life that doesn’t require a vacation. ð Now really is the best time to take advantage of what i have and work hard. That sometimes means passing up on adventures.
