I’ve noticed that QGIS doesn’t always do a good job simplifying geometries when exporting to an SVG file. While you can manually simplify layers, an easier method is as follows:

1) Open Layer Styling

2) Go to Symbology

3) Switch fill to Geometry Generator

4) Use the Simplify Expression to Simplify on the Fly, such as simplifying by 100 map units, which when projected in UTM would be meters.

But at least it looks like we are done with the really cold weather. Maybe not many days for the windows open this week after today, although in two weeks the average high is 60. I am so over winter, ready for spring.

Good morning! March is almost done.

It so we tell ourselves. Albany has been known to stop the clock squeeze a few more hours or even days out of the month. It’s a place where timely is basically a pseudonym for on time.

Partly cloudy and 40 degrees in Delmar, NY. There is a south-southeast breeze at 8 mph. . Temperatures will drop below freezing at Saturday around 2 am.

Maybe a tad bit cool this morning but you can see the rain clouds pushing in from the south and I’m pretty sure by evening I’ll need my umbrella by going home time whenever that is. Still I’m glad to be doing my walk with just the vest on today.

Yesterday was a busy day at work until it wasn’t. Got home at 7:15 had a quick dinner and went for my evening walk. The off to bed . Slept fairly well but woke up early. Tonight I’ll probably sleep with the windows open which should help.

It looks like a pretty nice weekend but I have a feeling that I will be working and not fishing. Probably downtown. But it’s April and the weather is moderating and I’m hopeful to do a weekend out of town either the second or third weekend of April.

Indeed already with the warmer temperatures this morning I’m starting to see the grass green up and with the rain this evening and temperatures not expected to fall much below freezing in the coming week it’s possible spring will start popping up all over.

I’ve been reading about the latest uptick in COVID-19 both in Central NY and the State Capitol, and I just find it hard to believe how few people are wearing masks out and about. I’ve gone to meetings and walked around in the Concourse and I’m one of the few people still wearing a mask. It’s like it’s spring, so people think they can let their guard down. I guess people figure if there is no government worker with an AK-47 pointed at them, they don’t need to wear a mask. But the COVID-19 doesn’t care about what the government workers say or do.
