The U.S. is gingerly considering whether to adopt a digital version of its currency, one better suited for today's increasingly cashless world, ushering in what could be one of the dollar's most fundamental transformations.
In that scenario, the U.S. would not only mint the coins and print paper bills. It would also issue digital cash, or a central bank digital currency (CBDC), that would be stored in apps or "digital wallets" on our smartphones.

Weather Update – February 6, 2022
After a cold start to the morning a few degrees below zero, going to warm up some and then seasonably warm for the rest of the week. π€
Or so we tell ourselves. But no noticeable windchill this week, which is nice for a change. Gives the heat a break. After last night, I turned down the heat as things are plenty warm and I’m not worried about losing power at that point. Not like the weekend that was so far or the past week or so. I only fear my heating bill when it comes sometime this week, although I probably shouldn’t be that worried as I haven’t been driving much lately and it’s been a week and a half since I’ve been to grocery store, so it’s not like I’ve been racking up a lot of bills.

Good Morning – February 6, 2022
Good morning! Save the Pine Bush Turns 44 π¦ !
Yes, 1978 was 44 years ago. Before my time, but not by much. There actually is fewer and fewer people still around from the starting days of Save the Pine Bush, many have moved away or passed. I’ve been fortunate though to know many of them over the years.
Partly sunny and -2 degrees in Delmar, NY. π€ Calm wind. There are 3 inches of snow on the ground. β Cold start to the day again. οΈThings will start to thaw out at tomorrow around noontime. π‘οΈ Then much warmer next week.
I am not totally sure of my plans for the day, β· although I hope to get my truck un-iced enough to go out and see my parents later on and maybe do some skiing too. π² But first it kind of needs to warm up a bit, and maybe some more sunshine, as it’s going to be cold due to lack of sun at times. Supposed to be sunnier later. β That said, I try to get out to the folks house π‘ pretty early so I’m not driving π home in the pitch black. π
I need to get to the store π and get groceries and wash my truck π» although truth be told that is probably a task best done tomorrow after work. I think I can figure out enough food π² at least through tomorrow.
Looking Back as I Climbed Route 6
Ravine Road wasn't all that bad of a walk, as it was plowed. Beat having to go through all that deep snow. Ravine Road is steep, and while this isn't the steepest portion of it, I was parked some 400 feet above where I hiked to at The Gulf. Walking along this rural section of highway, I could smell the kerosene being burnt for heat on the trailer/hunting camp on the other side of the road and it just brought me home and reminded me how much I missed Rural Albany County.
