Weather Update – October 25, 2021

Suddenly the summer was done 🌧

I can remember when the temperatures were in the 60s and 70s. But that’s just a memory as this week will be pretty rainy and cool, although that’s not untypical for late October. Remember it could be snow and icy, although the salt spreaders are hiding out for a few more days. Nights keep creeping longer, and the mornings even darker, especially with the rain.

I have made no decision on whether or not I am going to take off next week — I actually have many good reasons to stay in town next week, but if the weather is nice, it’s a four work day week, so I get a full week for 20% off my vacation time. But so is true the following week with Veterans Day. The questions becomes how wet will next weekend be?

Good Morning – October 25, 2021

Good morning! Maybe it won’t be quite as wet as they first predicted. 🌧

You know the weather man makes his profits selling car advertising by over-hyping the weather. Might though want your umbrella and rain coat for the evening, even if you don’t need it for the morning commute. But so dark to start out the day!

Clouds and 49 degrees in Delmar, NY. ☁️ There is a east-northeast breeze at 5 mph. πŸƒ.

I didn’t expect to be walking down to the express bus 🚏 this morning, but it looks like the rain is going to hold off. But it still is incredibly dark as I sip my coffee β˜• and get ready for a shower 🚿 and then to head out to express, assuming it’s not raining again.

Yesterday wasn’t a half bad day walking up at Huyck Preserve. πŸ‚ Still some color in the gorge and around the lake, but it’s fading fast in the high country. Never walked around some of the trails in the far back part of the preserve, very quiet, nobody else up there but a lot of wildlife. Huyck Preserve is over 2,000 acres nowadays, and extends all the ways west to Partridge Run. Some of the hills in the preserve is the highest country in Albany County, only a few feet from highest point in Albany County — Henry Hill is officially the county high peak, although I think the hill on Ms. Lubbin’s property off Pond Hill Road is slightly higher.
