The Killer Tricycle Banned by the US Government
My neighbors had these growing up. They're kind of cool when you find out how they work and why they were so cheap and popular.

Most balloons are released unintentionally. Moreover, helium is a limited resource, and it’s increasingly scarce, and should be reserved for medical and scientific uses only. The federal government controls the nation’s supply of helium — the president could very easily end all sales for helium balloons.
Poplar Grove's plight was the result, at least in part, of misguided good intentions and lack of resources. In 1933, the care of the cemetery was transferred from the War Department to the National Park Service, which had little experience in managing cemeteries. To save on grass cutting costs and to create a more parklike appearance in the cemetery, officials decided during the Great Depression to alter the headstones. Some 2,300 upright markers were made into flat stones, and about 3,400 blocks for the unknown were sunk into the ground, increasing the risk of damage and wear. In some instances, multiple soldiers are buried in one plot. The "Tombstone House" a few miles from the cemetery was coated with the lower part of headstones. The "Tombstone House" a few miles from the cemetery was coated with the lower part of headstones. For the upright headstones to be converted to flat ones, the bases of the stones had to be cut off. Hundreds of those bases were sold to a nearby resident, who used them on the exterior of his home and to pave a small sidewalk. In the following decades, no significant upgrades were performed at the cemetery, which is maintained by Petersburg National Battlefield.
With the afternoon sun, and the clouds pushing in, you could see the parts of the forest that still had brilliant color offset by the areas that are fading away to the grays of winter.
Taken on Saturday October 26, 2019 at Grafton Lakes State Park. But that’s to be expected as the average high drops below sixty for the remainder of the year. Actually going to be a bit on the warm side but it still seems cool compared to recent weeks.
More clouds expected for the weekend and maybe showers. π¦οΈI haven’t decided on weekend plans though I’m kind of inclined to take off Thursday and Friday unless of course meetings are scheduled for then. Of course if I wait until the following weekend then I could take off Monday and get a four day weekend as Election Day is a holiday at work.
I was looking at old photos of Glimmerglass from last autumn, thinking it sure might be pretty out there this weekend π assuming of course that it’s not too cloudy and rainy. That said I doubt it would be worthwhile to go all the way to Cazenovia this weekend. Leaves usually drop fairly early out that way due to the elevation.
It was so nice out last night π that I really want to spend some evenings up in the woods next to a fire π₯ but I’m not sure if this is the weekend or not to do it. Next weekend could be a four day weekend for the cost of one vacation day with the Election Day holiday.
