Parallel parking in small towns rocks. They still mark the spaces for land-yachts and big pickup trucks.
The marked spots in small towns can take a full-size pickup truck, and still have 2-3 feet between the bumper lines plus 2-3 feet between the driver’s door and the outside of marked parking spot.
In comparison, when I drive Big Red Downtown in Albany in one of the marked spots, the bumper hangs over both bumper lines, and the driver side usually hangs out along the white outer line.
But I guess it’s better to be prepared then get flat footed in a rain storm. The colors are just starting in Delmar, despite the clouds it’s a pretty nice morning. 🌅 But who knows, it seems like there is such a risk of rain.
I will probably hold off from the laundromat until Wednesday, 👕 as I found another pair of clean jeans at home, so I should be good for at least one more day. I’ll go grocery shopping then too. I hate how early it gets dark out, but I don’t mind evenings spent home with a book. Watch as a big project comes in Hump Day, and I have to work late. Maybe I can do it remotely from my truck should that happen.
My bluetooth headphones broke 🎧 when I was at Thacher Park, and I do need to get new headphones, although the wired ones seem to be working well for now and don’t need to be charged. That said, I stopped using the wired ones except with my laptop, and they work well for that. The $10 Wally World specials are fine, but they need to be thrown away and replaced every so often. 🗑 Hot fire, they’ll be gone. LOL!
I am thinking about a long-weekend up to Spectulator-area, 🗼 as I would like to hike Pillsbury Mountain before the autumn colors are fully gone from the Adirondacks. 🍂 Plus I was good and on my best behavior this past week, and I stayed in town and painted Big Red. Winter is coming, and who knows how nice Columbus Day Weekend really will be.

Final Tuesday of September. Time goes by so quickly but so is life. At least they’ve brought back the express bus back downtown. Turns out though I do have some time to order tires — getting them installed isn’t a delay, it’s just the alignment issue needing to be adjusted/fixed first.
Mostly cloudy and 60 degrees in Delmar, NY. 🌥 Calm wind. The dew point is 57 degrees. The skies will clear around 2 pm.
I brought my rain ☔ coat so I am pretty sure it won’t rain today. But it does look like rain clouds to the west for sure this morning.
Taking the Delmar Express back and forth to work is a nice change 🚍 although I do somewhat miss my morning walk 🚶. While I do get a 1 mile walk heading down to the Park and Ride, I don’t get the full two plus mile walk that I was doing although I largely make up for it with the walk home from the Park and Ride. That said the service seems very under utilized – most of the pre-pandemic customers have either retired or found other ways to get to work. 👨⚖️
It’s also good to get into the office 🏢 bright and early, when it’s calm and you are not rushing through all of the crowds. And if it’s a really nice morning maybe even going for a walk 🚶 on the Plaza before work.
I finally did some research on tires, but it turns out that it’s too early to make an appointment as they aren’t doing the alignment until mid-October. ⚫ It turns out NItto Tires while good, aren’t that widely stocked except for off-road shop I go to, and they want $450 a wheel. I am thinking about getting $370 a wheel BFG K/O AT, like I used to have on my Ford Ranger for a while, but didn’t really care much for because I got a hole in them off-roading years ago and they wore out eventually. But on the other hand, the truck is 10 years old, and I really don’t expect to get more then 3 years out of the truck so if the tires don’t last forever, then so what. If the alignment isn’t shit on my truck, it should last longer then that.
Honestly, I just got to hold my nose 👃 hand over the money, 🤑 and get the tires installed after the alignment, and get my truck fixed and ready to go for a few more years before I throw it away. I was the one that after all wanted the big wheels and the lift kit on my truck, and I’ve had a lot of fun with it over years. Despite all my whining, I do make $75k a year and spend less then 10% of my income on my run down apartment, and my idea of fun is shooting guns, drinking beer, and hanging out on the tailgate of my pickup in the woods in places that are free to camp — none of those expensive fancy resorts.
What can I say, I’m white trash with money. 🗑 Hell, I even burn my garbage in white trash bags sometimes, when they are cheaper at the store then the black ones. 🔥 All plastic burns black after all. And I like my big truck, and fires. None of that fancy stuff they have in the city. 🌇 That said, at this point in my life, I doubt I would ever do the big truck thing, as I’ve been there and dun it, spent the money. 🐮 I am more interested in country living.
I get paid today, 💸 but I’ll need to take money out of savings to cover expenses for the tires, alignments and repairs later in the month. But the good news is despite dragging my feet and the delay on getting Watkins Glen to do the alignment, is I should be able to enjoy my autumn vacation that last week of autumn. 🍂 The reason I never have any money in the bank after all is because I put it in place where I can interests. Still planning to do West Virginia that final week of October into November through Election Day.
