Weather Update – September 13, 2021

Well looking out five days the weekend seems quite nice β˜€

Warm and sunny, a bit muggy though for the weekend. Maybe I should again plan to head out of town. β›Ί Knowing how these things go it will probably be rain by then. I kind of like the idea of Stewart Landing floating in a tube but it might be fairly cold water at this point. That Mine Kill Pool was so cold. πŸ’¦

Most of the work week looks fairly unstable β˜” but from the office it’s not a big deal if I remember my rain coat. Take it day by day.

I probably should get to the store πŸ›’tonight although I probably could wait another day or two. Eventually though I’ll need to stock up on coffee β˜• again among other supplies.

HUD Sells Flood-Prone Houses To Often Unsuspecting Buyers : NPR

But an NPR investigation finds that the homes HUD sells are disproportionately located in flood-prone places, compared with Zillow records of all homes sold in the United States. The agency does not fully disclose the potential costs and dangers of living in harm's way, and some of these transactions have happened as local governments are buying out properties in the same areas to mitigate flood risk.

Good Morning – September 13, 2021

Good morning! Five day work weeks downtown come back around again. 🏒

Of course I could always decide to take off Friday to head out of town but I have to be a bit careful about how many days I take off if I’m planning on taking off a week to go to West Virginia in a month.

Mostly sunny β˜€ and 63 degrees in Delmar, NY. There is a northwest breeze at 6 mph. πŸƒ. The dew point is 60 degrees. A few places around still have fog around.

I am up and going this morning out for my morning walk 🚢 although not as early as some days. It’s interesting how just a five 5⃣ minutes difference can change the queuing of traffic around the high school 🚸. Fewer idling cars 🚘 which is good for air quality, people don’t want to believe that auto exhaust causes cardiac arrest. β™₯

It was a decent weekend to get away, β›Ί but cooler and less sunny than I had expected. One night – a quick trip to Schoharie isn’t at all like the long weekends I’m accustomed to since the pandemic started. Working downtown makes the weeks go by faster it seems – less free hours with commuting time – but I feel like I prefer the little bit more fixed schedule and seperation between 🏑 home and work.

This week I need to bite the bullet and deal with my truck issues. πŸ›» It might take a couple of weeks for the tires to arrive and I want Watkins Spring to check the alignment first. I also need to get that left rear shock bushing replaced as that’s loose I discovered over the weekend. Truck is ten years old but I think with some repairs πŸ›  I can get a few more years out of it.
