Average Age of Buildings on Altamont, NY Streets 🏑

Median Age of Buildings on Altamont, NY Streets 🏑

One of the ways I’ve been playing with the state tax records database is to experiment with the property tax database to figure out how old various streets are. While certainly people can and do build and rebuild houses on roads well after a street is constructed, looking at the median age of buildings on a street can give you a ballpark estimate on how old a street is and how old the particular neighborhood is. Probably the next step would be to plot this on a map.

Clearly with the median building dates, you can find the newest streets and developments in Altamont — and which neighborhoods and streets are rich in history.

Good Evening – July 13, 2021

Good evening! 🌧

Clouds with a constant threat of rain showers and 76 degrees in Delmar, NY. β˜” There is a south-southeast breeze at 9 mph. πŸƒ. The dew point is 70 degrees. Kind of damp outdoors.

Walked down to the library to get a bit of work done, πŸ“š and work a little bit on the blog and my remarks I am going to make about more development in Albany Pine Bush tonight. Not been a real nice day, fairly quiet at work, did a little work on the blog.

I wish we had a bit more sun, β›… but at least it’s been relatively dry. The next few days though are expected by sunnier but quite a bit hotter. The skies will clear tomorrow around 8 am.

Really need to get toilet paper, 🚽 as that’s something I forgot out shopping last night. Unfortunately, I have to pick up Russell downtown this evening for hearing — I’d rather be hiking in the Pine Bush but then I’ll get paper for the shitter. I really should get a bidet, it’s stupid to spend money on something you flush down the toilet. Maybe it would make more sense if you had an outhouse and needed the paper to tie down the nitrogen and limit the smell, πŸ‘ƒ but I hate just using things once and tossing them.

I think it’s wonderful that they have legalized marijuana. While I don’t smoke, I really don’tmind occasionally smelling it in the woods and on the air in the parks. If people want to smoke in the park, then all the more power to them.

In 1967, President Johnson created a commission to investigate racial unrest in America. But, the answer they came up with was not the answer he was hoping for.

The Kerner Commission had a lot of thoughtful analysis about the problems facing our cities but its advice was all but ignored and problems only got worse over time.
