February 7, 2021 Morning

Good morning! Happy Snowy Sunday. β˜ƒ Five weeks to Daylight Savings Time and the 7 PM Sunset πŸŒ‡ . It will be nice when the days are getting longer for sure. Overcast and 19 degrees in Delmar, NY. ☁️There is a south-southeast breeze at 5 mph. πŸƒ. There are 7 inches of snow on the ground. β˜ƒ ️The skies will clear around 7 pm.

Today will snow, mainly between noon and 5pm. 🌨 High of 30 degrees at 2pm. Three degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around January 22nd. Southeast wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 80%. Total daytime snow accumulation of 1 to 2 inches possible. A year ago, we had rain in the morning, which became snow by afternoon. The high last year was 35 degrees. The record high of 48 was set in 2005. 12.4 inches of snow fell back in 1983.❄

I am debating whether to go for a walk 🚢🏻 somewhere today depending on the weather. I thought about washing my truck today, but I think they’ve already been putting salt on the roads. I might walk out to Five Rivers although I don’t want to be walking along 443 with traffic passing by 🚘 in the snow 🌨. Doesn’t sound safe. 🎿I could ski the rail trail but I’d probably have to hike there with skis in hand. Maybe I’ll just stay home.

Solar noon 🌞 is at 12:10 pm with sun having an altitude of 32.2Β° from the due south horizon (-38.6Β° vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 9.5 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour πŸ… starts at 4:37 pm with the sun in the west-southwest (243Β°). πŸ“Έ The sunset is in the west-southwest (250Β°) with the sun dropping below the horizon at 5:17 pm after setting for 3 minutes and 5 seconds with dusk around 5:46 pm, which is one minute and 19 seconds later than yesterday. πŸŒ‡ The best time to look at the stars is after 6:20 pm. At sunset, look for snow 🌨 and temperatures around 29 degrees. There will be a northwest breeze at 5 mph. Today will have 10 hours and 15 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 32 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will have a chance of snow before 7pm. Cloudy during the early evening, then gradual clearing 🌨, with a low of 11 degrees at 5am. Five degrees below normal. Maximum wind chill around 5 at 4am; Northwest wind 8 to 14 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible. In 2020, we had light snow in the evening, which became partly cloudy by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 12 degrees. The record low of -16 occurred back in 1950.

I am a little cranky today 😞 because when I was at my parents house yesterday I thought I was downloading videos and syncing my blog over my parents Wi-Fi and not my Hotspot on my phone. Accidentally burned through 3.7 GB of data so I’m going to have to be careful the next two weeks and only use the Hotspot for work. But for most things I can do on my phone πŸ“± and that’s unlimited data. I switched my phone to shutdown the data after 5 minutes of inactivity like before – I didn’t realize the Hotspot was on from earlier. I’m actually quite impressed on how fast the Hotspot is – I didn’t really notice the slowdown. Maybe tomorrow I’ll work down at the library πŸ“š for a while and the same on Wednesday if it’s warms enough. Shit happens, and I’m halfway through the billing month, and I still have 8 1/2 gigabytes left πŸ“Ά and it I have to renew a few days early I guess it’s just a lesson – not a real big expense.

🌹🌻🌼Only 41 days remain until the first day of calendar spring!🌹🌻🌼 Looking forward to spring and things getting back to normal. That said, I kind of want remote work πŸ’» to continue for a while so I can do some spring camping πŸ• and trout fishing 🎣, especially now that I’ve really worked out the process well.

As previously noted, next Sunday is Valentines Day ❀️ when the sun will be setting at 5:26 pm with dusk at 5:55 pm. On that day in 2020, we had mostly sunny and temperatures between 36 and 7 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 34 degrees. We hit a record high of 63 back in 1946. Doesn’t seem that warm next weekend.

I was looking at the calendar πŸ—“ and it looks like Presidents Day is next Monday the 15th. If it wasn’t so cold and snow depth I’d think about going up to the Adirondacks for a couple of days. β›Ί Winter camping is fun but I don’t think it will happen this year.
