Physicists have long suspected that quantum mechanics allows two observers to experience different, conflicting realities. Now they’ve performed the first experiment that proves it.
You can say science like this isn't important but truth be told, we don't know where it could lead. Without the theory of relatively we wouldn't have GPS and probably not technologies that rely on GPS timing like cell phones and atms.

The COVID vaccine update and section on wind turbines is fascinating. I might not agree with all their conclusions but I do appreciate their scientific, informed reasoning.
Good morning! Happy Thursday. Next Thursday is 7:15 AM Sunrise βοΈ. Mostly sunny and dirty three degrees in Delmar, NY. π There is a south breeze at 5 mph. π. Cold start to the morning but it’s warming up quickly.
I am enjoying the sun β as I go for my morning walk. I am enjoying the sun and it’s a pretty pleasant day for early December. It was chilly this morning when I first awoke this morning although that’s because I turned the heat way down before bed π. I had turned it up after getting home from working down at the library as I was kind of chilled through.
In three weeks my yearly prepaid phone expires, πΆ and I’ll go month to month with the unlimited data plan and probably 20 gb of hot spot data each month through March at least when it warms up again. πΈ While I can do a lot on my phone, some remote work tasks are best done on the computer. π» The cost is balanced out by not having a bus fare to pay. π I do miss working in the office and walking down to the library though.
Today will be sunny π, with a high of 46 degrees at 2pm. Five degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around November 21st. South wind 5 to 10 mph. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies in the morning with some clearing in the afternoon. The high last year was 32 degrees. The record high of 63 was set in 2009. 5.2 inches of snow fell back in 1893.β
Solar noon π is at 11:46 am with sun having an altitude of 25.2Β° from the due south horizon (-45.6Β° vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 12.7 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour π starts at 3:39 pm with the sun in the southwest (232Β°). πΈ The sunset is in the west-southwest (240Β°) with the sun dropping below the horizon at 4:24 pm after setting for 3 minutes and 21 seconds with dusk around 4:54 pm, which is 14 seconds earlier than yesterday. π The best time to look at the stars is after 5:30 pm. At sunset, look for mostly clear skies π and temperatures around 44 degrees. There will be a south breeze at 7 mph. Tomorrow will have 9 hours and 12 minutes of daytime, a decrease of one minute and 13 seconds over today.
Today at lunch time π₯ͺ I am going to wash my truck π and get some groceries then work at the library parking lot π Ώ for a few hours. That way the heater on my truck will be warm plus the solar gain β through the windshield. Should be a nice day and I’ll make sure to bring my binoculars so I can watch the birds π¦.
Tonight will be mostly cloudy π₯, with a low of 32 degrees at 1am. Six degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around November 16th. South wind around 7 mph. In 2019, we had mostly clear skies in the evening, which became cloudy by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 19 degrees. The record low of -9 occurred back in 1940.
I do not approve of this weekend, although Sunday will be okay. π Saturday, a chance of rain and snow before 7am, then a chance of rain. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 41. Light north wind increasing to 5 to 9 mph in the morning. Chance of precipitation is 50%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible. Sunday, partly sunny, with a high near 35. Typical average high for the weekend is 40 degrees.
This is the last weekend of regular deer season π¦ so I’m thinking that maybe next weekend if the weather is decent and not too snowy I’ll get out of town for a few days. βΊ I’d rather be in the woods when it’s quiet out there except for the black powder guys. π²
As previously noted, next Thursday is 7:15 AM Sunrise βοΈ when the sun will be setting at 4:22 pm with dusk at 4:53 pm. On that day in 2019, we had rain showers, mostly cloudy, mild and temperatures between 52 and 35 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 38 degrees. We hit a record high of 64 back in 1966.
The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says holiday shopping in crowded stores is a “higher risk” activity and that people should limit any in-person shopping, including at supermarkets.
Even as President Trump fluctuates between false claims he really won the 2020 election and that it was stolen from him, he is also seriously considering launching a bid for 2024, two campaign sources and a third source with close ties to Trump's circle tell NPR.
The three sources, who were not authorized to speak to reporters and spoke on condition of anonymity, said a quick move by Trump to position himself for a comeback will have the impact of freezing out Republicans who may be considering a bid of their own – and will enable Trump to continue to raise questions about the legitimacy of Joe Biden's presidency once the president-elect takes office in January.
