October 17, 2020 Morning

Good morning! Happy Northern Zone Regular Season 🦌! Two weeks to Halloween πŸ¦‡ and the Blue Moon πŸŒ•. I bet the Marcells will approve. Should be extra spooky this year but not many kids trick or treating πŸŽƒ due to the Corona. πŸ•ΈοΈ It’s sunny and 42 degrees in Delmar, NY. 🌞 There is a northwest breeze at 8 mph. πŸƒ.

Today should be a really nice day. πŸŒ… Right now there isn’t a cloud in the sky. Just finishing up breakfast 🍳 and I will take a quick shower 🚿, check the oil πŸ›’ in Big Red and be off. 🚘

Today’s plans include Glimmerglass State Park and spending some time walking 🚢🏻 around Cooperstown then camping πŸ• and heading down down to Sherburne and the Environmental Education Center come morning. Going to drive back to Albany come Monday morning as it looks like rain. I was hoping for a long weekend of remote work πŸ’» while the weather was nice but that was nice to be. So just a regular weekend trip.

Today will be sunny 🌞, with a high of 59 degrees at 4pm. Typical for today. Northwest wind 8 to 14 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. A year ago, we had light rain in the morning, which became mostly sunny by afternoon. The high last year was 52 degrees. The record high of 85 was set in 1947. There was a dusting of snow in 1970.❄

Solar noon 🌞 is at 12:41 pm with sun having an altitude of 37.9Β° from the due south horizon (-32.9Β° vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 7.7 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour πŸ… starts at 5:32 pm with the sun in the west-southwest (251Β°). πŸ“Έ The sunset is in the west-southwest (258Β°) with the sun dropping below the horizon at 6:11 pm after setting for 2 minutes and 58 seconds with dusk around 6:37 pm, which is one minute and 35 seconds earlier than yesterday. πŸŒ‡ At dusk you’ll see the Waxing Crescent πŸŒ’ Moon in the west-southwest (251Β°) at an altitude of 4Β° from the horizon, 226,461 miles away. πŸš€ The best time to look at the stars is after 7:12 pm. At sunset, look for clear skies πŸŒ„ and temperatures around 52 degrees. There will be a west-northwest breeze at 8 mph. Tomorrow will have 10 hours and 55 minutes of daytime, a decrease of 2 minutes and 46 seconds over today.

Tonight will have areas of frost after 1am. Otherwise, clear πŸŒƒ, with a low of 33 degrees at 6am. Six degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical night around November 9th. West wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the evening. In 2019, we had light rain in the evening, which became cloudy by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 41 degrees. The record low of 22 occurred back in 1978.

Looking ahead, there are 5 weeks until Regular Deer Season in Southern Zone 🦌 when the sun will be setting at 4:27 pm with dusk at 4:58 pm (Standard Time). On that day in 2019, we had partly sunny, shallow fog and temperatures between 47 and 26 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 46 degrees. We hit a record high of 70 back in 1931.
