October 13, 2020 Morning
Good morning! Happy Tuesday. Pay day which is always good as I have some debt, but not a lot to retire this week. Gotta to pay for all that random plastic packaging that burns so black. π¦ π₯ Three weeks to until voting concludes on Election Day π³οΈ. Rain and 50 degrees in Delmar, NY. β There is a northeast breeze at 5 mph. π. The skies will clear around 8 pm. Rain has been letting up a bit now.
Well with the rain I’m hoping the boots π’ I ordered come today, as my regular work boots have big holes worn in the soles and are very leaky which isn’t good with the rain. I think I’m going to have to avoid the puddles or wear my black boots when I go to work today.
Finally found my headphones. π§ Ended up doing too much searching for them last night. They had fallen in the back seat of the truck. Good excuse to clean things up. I also wired up a Bluetooth adapter to my car stereo so I can listen to podcasts while driving π which is nice. My truck is old enough it doesn’t have one of those fancy stereos although it does play Mp3βΆοΈ off a memory stick πΎ just fine. And no not a floppy disk.
I am going to head downtown around 11:30 this morning π and stay in the office until the evening after rush hour. I think eventually I’ll be going to the office π’ daily in a month or two assuming that there isn’t a second wave π of Coronavirus. I am hoping by then they will have restored the express bus service downtownπand I can catch the bus from the Park and Ride, with thing more like normal without the muzzle on – although during cold and flu season I might just still wear the mask π· now that I have one.
I do like my time downtown and riding the bus. π It’s strange but somehow I like the routine, seeing the people, riding back and forth to work and having a little downtime. Remote work π» is fun at times but it gets tiresome especially on hot and cold days working down from the library parking lot. π Ώ
Today will have showers, mainly before 4pm. Patchy fog before 3pm. π¦ High of 55 degrees at 3pm. Six degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around October 28th. The high last year was 62 degrees. The record high of 81 was set in 1930. There was a dusting of snow in 1934.β
Solar noon π is at 12:42 pm with sun having an altitude of 39.4Β° from the due south horizon (-31.4Β° vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 7.3 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour π starts at 5:39 pm with the sun in the west-southwest (253Β°). πΈ The sunset is in the west (260Β°) with the sun dropping below the horizon at 6:17 pm after setting for 2 minutes and 56 seconds with dusk around 6:44 pm, which is one minute and 38 seconds earlier than yesterday. π The best time to look at the stars is after 7:18 pm. Today will have 11 hours and 9 minutes of daytime, a decrease of 2 minutes and 48 seconds over yesterday.

Two degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around October 9th. Northwest wind 6 to 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. Continuing to watch the weekend forecast. Saturday, a chance of showers. Mostly sunny, with a high near 54. π¦οΈChance of precipitation is 40%. Sunday, mostly sunny, with a high near 58. πTypical average high for the weekend is 59 degrees.
This weekend I might go out to Madison County on Saturday for a couple of days. βΊ I am just waiting and seeing depending on the exact timing on when the rain stops on Friday β and how much of an impact it will have on my weekend plans.
As previously noted, there are 3 weeks until Election Day π³ when the sun will be setting at 4:45 pm with dusk at 5:14 pm (Standard Time). On that day in 2019, we had partly sunny, rain showers and temperatures between 53 and 30 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 53 degrees. Right on target. π― We hit a record high of 75 back in 1990.
