World Health Organization warns of ‘very serious’ Covid-19 situation in Europe – CNN

(WHO) has warned that coronavirus cases are surging alarmingly in Europe, as a "very serious situation" unfolds across the continent.

As Covid-19 infections spike to record numbers, European governments are imposing strict local measures and weighing up further lockdowns in a bid to halt a second wave of the pandemic

It feels weird to be back on the bus. 🚌

It feels weird to be back on the bus. 🚌😷

But it makes it so easy to get back and forth to work and everybody is wearing a mask. Parking downtown is such a bitch and there is so many stoplights. Plus it’s important to support public transportation. The mask though is hot to wear.

Banks!

Apparently its unusual and actually frowned upon to ask the bank to set a much lower credit card limit than you are allowed because it negatively effects your credit score. But I don’t really care if my credit score is trash – I don’t have any plans to borrow money any time in the future and I worry more about fraud then some idiotic number.

September 17, 2020 Morning

Good morning! Happy Constitution Day πŸ“œ! I like constitution but it’s only as good as the people who are enforcing it. Two weeks to October πŸŽƒ and Harvest Moon πŸŒ•. Shine on Harvest Moon in a few weeks. Late this year, in October or is the Hunter’s Moon? 🏹🦌 Partly sunny with haze and 52 degrees in Delmar, NY. 🌀️ There is a south breeze at 7 mph. πŸƒ. The dew point is 50 degrees.

I went for my morning walk, 🚢🏻 and it was a nice morning but the sky still has that gray-blue dull color from the western wildfire πŸ”₯. I ended up just walking around the Swift Preserve 🐸, it was a nice morning but I got a late start because I had trouble getting out of bed πŸ›.

Today will have a chance of showers, mainly after 5pm. Partly sunny 🌞, with a high of 72 degrees at 3pm. Typical for today. Maximum dew point of 57 at 1pm. South wind 5 to 7 mph becoming north in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible. A year ago, we had sunny skies in the morning with some clearing in the afternoon. The high last year was 73 degrees. The record high of 89 was set in 1942.

I have a meeting downtown today mid day πŸ•› and I’m still chewing over whether I should drive there or take a bus 🚌. I haven’t ridden the bus much in six months but it’s so convenient. πŸ™„But then again there is old Corona hiding out everywhere or so the politicians want us to believe. πŸ‘Ύ Duck πŸ¦† that, I’ll wear a mask 😷. Or at a banada as I don’t own a real mask.

Solar noon 🌞 is at 12:51 pm with sun having an altitude of 49.4Β° from the due south horizon (-21.4Β° vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 5.1 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour πŸ… starts at 6:25 pm with the sun in the west (267Β°). πŸ“Έ The sunset is in the west (274Β°) with the sun dropping below the horizon at 7:03 pm after setting for 2 minutes and 54 seconds with dusk around 7:29 pm, which is one minute and 47 seconds earlier than yesterday. πŸŒ‡ At dusk you’ll see the Waxing Crescent πŸŒ’ Moon in the west (274Β°) at an altitude of 1Β° from the horizon, 227,241 miles away. πŸš€ The best time to look at the stars is after 8:04 pm. At sunset, look for rain showers 🌧 and temperatures around 62 degrees. The dew point will be 54 degrees. There will be a north breeze at 8 mph. Today will have 12 hours and 23 minutes of daytime, a decrease of 2 minutes and 51 seconds over yesterday.

This afternoon I’m heading over John Wolcott house πŸ”Ž for a while to see what random files πŸ“‚ we can find although after the Fort Orange box πŸ—ƒ there hasn’t been a lot interesting things the past few weeks. But you never know what you will find.

Tonight will have a chance of showers, mainly before 8pm. Mostly cloudy 🌧, with a low of 47 degrees at 6am. Four degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical night around September 26th. North wind around 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible. In 2019, we had clear skies in the evening, which became partly cloudy by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 48 degrees. The record low of 35 occurred back in 1986.

Yesterday I went down to the park and the Wi-Fi was down πŸ’» which was obnoxious for the Zoom Meeting. I ended up going to the library parking lot and working there in the evening and updating the blog. πŸ“ I then came home and listened to the Save the Pine Bush Virtual Dinner honoring the late Reszin Adam’s over the conference call on my phone πŸ“±while I had Macoroni and Cheese with the fixings πŸ§€ but it wasn’t as good as Reszin’s lasagna.

Cool this weekend with temperatures running 11 degrees below normal but otherwise sunny. πŸ˜ƒ Saturday, patchy frost before 7am. Otherwise, sunny, with a high near 60. North wind 5 to 9 mph. Sunday, patchy frost before 8am. Otherwise, sunny, with a high near 61. Maximum dew point of 35 at 10am. Typical average high for the weekend is 71 degrees.

Definitely going to feel like an autumn weekend. πŸ‚ Saturday I’m going hiking in the Albany Pine Bush Preserve and probably somewhere local on Sunday. 🚢🏻 Next weekend I’m hoping to get up north if the weather is nice.

As previously noted, there are 2 weeks until October πŸŽƒ and Harvest Moon πŸŒ• when the sun will be setting at 6:36 pm with dusk at 7:04 pm. On that day in 2019, we had rain and temperatures between 78 and 60 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 66 degrees. We hit a record high of 90 back in 1927.
