D.C., Maryland and Virginia Sue EPA Over Failure To Enforce Chesapeake Bay Cleanup : NPR

In 2014, the six states in the watershed plus D.C., signed an agreement with the EPA that was supposed to be different. Under this agreement, the EPA would have enforcement powers to hold states accountable. But according to the lawsuit, the agency has failed to do this.

Virginia Attorney General Mark Herring said the EPA's lack of action is "potentially erasing decades of progress that we have made in reducing pollution levels and restoring the bay."

September 14, 2020 Morning

Good morning! Monday’s come back around again. Six months into the pandemic, seven weeks until Election Day. Four weeks to Columbus Day โ›ต ๐Ÿ‚, as I listen to that Coven song about the One Tin Soldier on the radio. ๐Ÿ“ป Mostly cloudy and 61 degrees in Delmar, NY. ๐ŸŒฅ There is a northwest breeze at 11 mph. ๐Ÿƒ. The dew point is 57 degrees. The skies will clear around 11 am although there is already some patches of blue.

Stayed up too late last night running numbers ๐Ÿ”ข and making edits for a work ๐Ÿ“„. Now I’m a bit tired ๐Ÿ˜ด but I think I can put on a good face ๐Ÿ™„for the Zoom Meeting ๐ŸŽฅ today. Totally my fault as I played around with other things during daylight hours. Heading out for my walk ๐Ÿšถ๐Ÿป after having several cups of coffee. โ˜•

Walking past the Park and Ride ๐Ÿ…ฟ๐Ÿš it’s remarkable to think it’s sat empty for six months now. No commuter buses because there is no commuters or commutes during the pandemic. It seems like a perfectly preserved time capsule ๐Ÿ’Š, after I rode that final bus downtown on that cold March morning โ„ before everything stopped ๐Ÿ›‘.

Today will be mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming sunny โ˜€ , with a high of 70 degrees at 3pm. Three degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around September 21st. Maximum dew point of 57 at 8am. Northwest wind 11 to 16 mph, with gusts as high as 26 mph. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies in the morning, remaining cloudy in the afternoon. The high last year was 69 degrees. The record high of 93 was set in 1931.

Today’s priority should be to get to the laundromat ๐Ÿ‘š that is after I run to the store ๐Ÿช and get laundry soap among other shit that I need. It’s a pay week ๐Ÿ’ต and that’s good with my investment plan updated. One day closer to the future ๐Ÿ”ฎ, the 2030s and 2040s will be upon before you know it.

My replacement laptop battery ๐Ÿ”‹ should be coming this week and that’s good because after four years of abuse the current battery isn’t holding charge for long. That’s a problem especially when I’m using my personal laptop down at the park for wifi. ๐Ÿ’ป

Solar noon ๐ŸŒž is at 12:52 pm with sun having an altitude of 50.6ยฐ from the due south horizon (-20.3ยฐ vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 4.9 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour ๐Ÿ… starts at 6:31 pm with the sun in the west (269ยฐ). ๐Ÿ“ธ The sunset is in the west (275ยฐ) with the sun dropping below the horizon at 7:08 pm after setting for 2 minutes and 55 seconds with dusk around 7:34 pm, which is one minute and 47 seconds earlier than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ The best time to look at the stars is after 8:10 pm. At sunset, look for clear skies ๐ŸŒ„ and temperatures around 63 degrees. There will be a north-northwest breeze at 14 mph. Today will have 12 hours and 31 minutes of daytime, a decrease of 2 minutes and 51 seconds over yesterday.

Turned back on the hot water heater ๐Ÿšฟ so I can, take hot showers now that the weather is getting cold. I will turn it off for any extended trips when I’m out of town but cold showers aren’t fun on cold mornings, although the tanked electric water heater still is kind of expensive to operate and uses a shit ton of electricity.

Tonight will be clear ๐ŸŒƒ, with a low of 42 degrees at 5am. 10 degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical night around October 8th. North wind 5 to 13 mph. Cool night ahead. In 2019, we had mostly clear skies in the evening, which became cloudy by the early hours of the morning. It was somewhat humid. It got down to 54 degrees. The record low of 33 occurred back in 1975.

Cool this weekend with temperatures running 9 degrees below normal but otherwise sunny. ๐Ÿ˜ƒ Saturday, sunny, with a high near 62. Maximum dew point of 37 at 6am. Sunday, mostly sunny, with a high near 63. Maximum dew point of 38 at 5pm. Typical average high for the weekend is 71 degrees.

It will be a really nice autumn weekend ๐Ÿ‚ but I have things to do both Saturday and Monday so I ain’t going to be able to head out of town. Maybe the following week I can spend an extended weekend in the Spectulator area. โ›บ

Looking ahead, there are 4 weeks until Columbus Day โ›ต ๐Ÿ‚ when the sun will be setting at 6:17 pm with dusk at 6:45 pm. On that day in 2019, we had partly sunny and temperatures between 66 and 44 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 61 degrees. We hit a record high of 85 back in 1954.

Soon summer will be a memory
