Coronavirus Live Updates : NPR

Wall Street Is Raking In Profits In The Stock Market, Even In A Recession : Coronavirus Live Updates : NPR

Goldman's profit surge underscores a central fact about the bifurcated U.S. economy right now: While much of the economy faces an uncertain future, Wall Street is enjoying a historic revival, as the Federal Reserve and other central banks flooded the global economy with money.

"The Fed has been able to engineer a huge bounce back in the markets by injecting trillions of dollars, benefiting investment banks primarily," Octavio Marenzi, CEO of capital markets consultancy Opimas, told CNBC.

Yeah, this is what happens when you print a lot of money to force interest rates below a quarter percent to make it cheap to borrow, that is for those who have a need to borrow and can get approved for credit.

Will Powley Road Open End of Summer

Could Piseco Powley Road be fully open by the autumn hunting season?

Posted by Townof Stratford on Thursday, April 9, 2020

I bet those handful of cabin owners on the lower part of Piseco Road past the bridge are looking forward to accessing their cabins again. As are the many people who access the area normally from the south.

This post shows some pictures of the bridge they replaced at Piseco Place and the current southbound end of Powley Road at the Potholers.

July 15, 2020 Morning

Good morning! What day is it? Hump Day, of course. It’s cloudy and 68 degrees in Delmar, NY. ☁ Calm wind. The dew point is 61 degrees. Not expected to real cloudy all day. The skies will clear around 9 am.

Once again I stayed up too late last night πŸŒƒ sitting out back. I can use the excuse that it’s not a problem as people aren’t seeing my ugly face and I don’t have to leave at BOB TIME ⌚ that is 8:08 to catch the bus downtown but truth be told I’m still not getting enough sleep. But I like sitting out back after my evening walk 🚢. No morning walk this morning, just coffee β˜• and maybe a cold shower 🚿.

Today will be mostly sunny 🌞, with a high of 84 degrees at 3pm. One degree above normal. Maximum dew point of 62 at 8am. Light southeast wind. A year ago, we had partly cloudy skies in the morning with some clearing in the afternoon. The high last year was 85 degrees. The record high of 96 was set in 1997.

Solar noon 🌞 is at 1:02 pm with sun having an altitude of 68.8Β° from the due south horizon (-2Β° vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 2.3 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour πŸ… starts at 7:50 pm with the sun in the west-northwest (294Β°). πŸ“Έ The sunset is in the west-northwest (301Β°) with the sun dropping below the horizon at 8:32 pm after setting for 3 minutes and 21 seconds with dusk around 9:04 pm, which is 39 seconds earlier than yesterday. πŸŒ‡ The best time to look at the stars is after 9:49 pm. At sunset, look for partly clear skies πŸŒ„ and temperatures around 78 degrees. The dew point will be 59 degrees. There will be a south-southeast breeze at 5 mph. Today will have 14 hours and 59 minutes of daytime, a decrease of one minute and 30 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will be partly cloudy 🌀, with a low of 65 degrees at 5am. Three degrees above normal. Maximum dew point of 63 at 11pm. Southeast wind around 6 mph. In 2019, we had mostly clear skies in the evening, which became cloudy by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 60 degrees. The record low of 44 occurred back in 1946.

On this day in 1959, the Steel Strike of 1959 gets underway, πŸ—οΈ and forcing contractors to either import steel or delay construction projects. πŸ‘· Many chose to import lower-cost steel, with the result being the US Steel industry never recovering.

Hot this weekend. β˜€ Saturday, mostly sunny and hot, with a high near 91. Maximum dew point of 67 at 9am. Sunday, mostly sunny and hot, with a high near 94. Maximum dew point of 69 at 7pm. Typical average high for the weekend is 83 degrees.

I am thinking about taking a three day weekend to Piseco Powley Road β›Ί to check out the potholers and see how things are rebuilding. I was originally thinking of going to Speculator on Thursday or Friday and working from there first but I might skip that part of trip due to the forecast.
