Sickle Hill Road

Sickle Hill Road in Berne is one of those hills that when you climb it, you will be doing it in passing gear. It's steep but a nice drive up to Partridge Run.

June 15, 2020 Morning

Good morning! Monday’s come back around again. Halfway through the month. July is just around the corner. Next Monday the Average High is 80 πŸ€Ό. Partly sunny and 51 degrees in Delmar, NY. β˜€ Calm wind. The dew point is 45 degrees.

This morning dropping off Big Red before work 🚘 then head home 🏑 and work from home. I double checked to make sure I have my charger πŸ”Œ for the laptops. Hopefully it will be ready to be picked up this afternoon. I will get a good walk out of this 🚢 and hopefully won’t have to worry about the uneven wear any more and the tires will pass inspection in November.

Today will be mostly sunny 🌞, with a high of 77 degrees at 3pm. One degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around June 13th. Maximum dew point of 49 at 11am. Light and variable wind. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies in the morning, which became light rain by afternoon. The high last year was 81 degrees. The record high of 96 was set in 1988.

Solar noon 🌞 is at 12:57 pm with sun having an altitude of 70.7Β° from the due south horizon (-0.1Β° vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 2.1 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour πŸ… starts at 7:53 pm with the sun in the west-northwest (297Β°). πŸ“Έ The sunset is in the west-northwest (304Β°) with the sun dropping below the horizon at 8:36 pm after setting for 3 minutes and 28 seconds with dusk around 9:10 pm, which is 24 seconds later than yesterday. πŸŒ‡ The best time to look at the stars is after 9:56 pm. At sunset, look for mostly clear skies πŸŒ„ and temperatures around 69 degrees. The dew point will be 50 degrees. There will be a calm wind. Today will have 15 hours and 18 minutes of daytime, an increase of 23 seconds over yesterday.

I expect another busy day at work. πŸ’Ό After work in the evening I might walk out to Five Rivers 🐦 to do some birding – the evening it depends if I have to work late and when I get to pick up my truck.

Tonight will be mostly clear πŸŒƒ, with a low of 49 degrees at 5am. Eight degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical night around May 23rd. Light northwest wind. In 2019, we had cloudy skies in the evening, which became light rain by the early hours of the morning. It became somewhat humid as the night progressed. It got down to 63 degrees. The record low of 40 occurred back in 1961.

On this day in 1967, The People’s Republic of China tests its first hydrogen bomb. πŸ’£ It would be one of the world’s few powers with access to the devestatingly powerful hydrogen bombs. Big boom, not available on Ali Express.

Right now, a split verdict on the weekend. πŸ˜• Saturday, mostly sunny and hot, with a high near 90. Maximum dew point of 64 at 7pm. Sunday, a chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly sunny, with a high near 88. Chance of precipitation is 40%. Maximum dew point of 65 at 10am. Typical average high for the weekend is 79 degrees.

It seems like a good weekend to head north. β›Ί It’s disappointing that the road to the Potholers is closed and that Mine Kill pool will be closed but I expect to be busy this weekend so I’ll probably end up in the Speculator area. I still have to decide if I want to bring my kayak or not. Probably leave on Thursday.

As previously noted, next Monday is Average High is 80 πŸ– when the sun will be setting at 8:37 pm with dusk at 9:11 pm. On that day in 2019, we had mostly sunny and temperatures between 80 and 55 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 80 degrees. We hit a record high of 95 back in 1954.
