I find it really annoying when people smoke cigarettes outside of buildings downtown … 🚭

Not only is cigarette smoking unhealthy, it smells really bad for people passing by, going out for a walk, not wanting to breathe in your second hand smoke. Cigarette smoking is fine in a suburban backyard or a rural area, but it shouldn’t be allowed out in front of tall buildings downtown or near bus stops where people are either going for a walk, or just trying to catch a bus somewhere.

A complete ban on smoking downtown, would reduce the amount of second-hand smoke people are forced to breathe in, while forcing smokers to either quit, or risk being arrested and fined. While I don’t think that it makes sense to ban all tobacco products, if they prohibited smoking in public places, it would greatly reduce the nuisance and health impacts of smoking in dense urban areas.

Color Television

The primary purposes of color television are as follows:

  1. To sell laundry soap.
  2. To sell imported cars.
  3. To sell politicians.
  4. To remind the public that law enforcement and government agencies are important, and must be expanded and given more lavish benefits.

Pennsylvania lawmakers seek to block any attempt at regulation of single-use plastics | StateImpact Pennsylvania

Language was added Wednesday to the state’s fiscal code (SB 712), to delay rules around things like plastic bags and food wrappers. The fiscal code frequently contains questionable earmarks and controversial provisions lawmakers add shortly before the annual state budget deadline at the end of June, rather than adhering to a more transparent process.

The move comes as the city of Philadelphia seriously considers a ban on single-use plastic bags, along with a 15-cent fee for any recyclable paper or other reusable bag stores provide to customers.

Gotta have those plastic shopping bags to burn in the burn barrels in hillbilly country, Pennsylvania. They do burn pretty good for sure, but they are kind of nuisance when they blow around and get in the trees, especially near landfills and in cities.
