SENECA ROCKS, W.Va. β Seneca Rocks is one of the most unique landmarks in West Virginia and itβs one of the best places to visit for an entire weekend.
My friends and I were looking for a place where we could do just unplug and have little to no service for a weekend. Since Seneca Rocks is in the heart of Pendleton County, we figured it would be a great way to see a side of West Virginia we werenβt familiar with.
It was early summer, and I was on the verge of turning 40. I found myself entertaining a recurring daydream of escaping from time. I would be hustling my son out the door to get him to school, or walking briskly to work on the day of a deadline, or castigating myself for being online when I should have been methodically and efficiently putting words on paper, and I would have this vision of myself as a character in a video game discovering a secret level. This vision was informed by the platform games I loved as a child β Super Mario Bros, Sonic the Hedgehog and so on β in which the character you controlled moved across the screen from left to right through a scrolling landscape, encountering obstacles and adversaries as you progressed to the end of the level. In this daydream, I would see myself pushing against a wall or lowering myself down the yawning mouth of a pipe, and thereby discovering this secret level, this hidden chamber where I could exist for a time outside of time, where the clock was not forever running down to zero.
You can do this with a gun, and have something good to eat when you come home if luck has it.
Good morning! Mondayβs come back around again. Gotta make that money although not a pay week this week but I have great faith Iβll be paid next week. Two weeks to Clean Your Computer Day . With there being so much hard drive space these days, does anybody really have to clean their computer?
Snow flurries, cloudy, gray, damp and 36 degrees at the Valero just waiting for the bus to take me to work. Calm wind. There is a dusting of snow on the ground. Temperatures will drop below freezing at tomorrow around noontime.
Catching the later bus to work because I never know with this bus and having to punch the clock on time each morning. The truth is with manually filled in time cards you could get away with being a few minutes late and nobody would ever know. I did set my alarm for 6:30 but I reset it a few times. Iβm bad I know and I had to iron my shirt . But I did have a nice pan of eggs for breakfast, one of the last of the fresh ones from my parents, as some kind of varmint finished off their chickens and they donβt want to have chickens now as theyβre planning on spending the summer traveling.
