Haunted Places in Maine – Route 2A

While there are numerous haunted places in Maine, one of the most haunted is said to be a rural section of road in northern Maine off of U.S. Route 2 called "Route 2A". This particular stretch of road runs through what is known as the "Haynesville Woods" which is located in the town of Haynesville in the southern portion of Aroostook County. Before the construction of Interstate 95, U.S. Route 2 was one of the most widely utilized thoroughfares by truck drivers hauling potatoes out of the State of Maine. This isolated stretch of road can be treacherous in the wintery months of New England and has one particularly sharp curve of nearly 90 degrees.

October 21, 2019 Morning

Good morning! Monday’s come back around again. Monday meetings, plans, and work. Fun shit. At least I don’t preg test cows for living. And we are getting through the year. I had some Christmas music πŸŽ„ come on my radio and actually listened to it for a while. Next Monday is Average High is 55 πŸ‚. Fog, mist and 42 degrees in Delmar, NY. 🌁 Calm wind.

It’s less than two weeks until November. πŸŽƒ A week from Friday. That said November is my favorite month of the year, especially if the snow β›„ and the cold hold off as they often they do this time of year. I’ve had many adventures in the last month before it gets very snowy and cold in December.

Come November I’ll need to get Big Red inspected. πŸš™ I’ll probably just drop it off at the dealership and pick it up after work. That’s the easiest option.

Using my regular headphones with my phone 🎧 which only the right channel works on them because the jack is broken as it has been for two years now. πŸ“± I need to consider getting a new phone at some point as the charging port has been dying on the phone for some time and it doesn’t fhwrr well always. Plus I’m always low on memory. The Straight Talk phones πŸ“ž I use are like $50 so it’s not that big of an investment.

Today will be sunny 🌞, with a high of 62 degrees at 3pm. Four degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around October 11th. Maximum dew point of 48 at 4pm. The record high of 81 was set in 1979. 0.2 inches of snow fell back in 1926.❄

The sun will set at 6:04 pm with dusk around 6:33 pm, which is one minute and 32 seconds earlier than yesterday. πŸŒ‡ At sunset, look for mostly clear skies πŸŒ„ and temperatures around 59 degrees. The dew point will be 48 degrees. There will be a calm wind. Today will have 10 hours and 48 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 44 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will be partly cloudy 🌀, with a low of 41 degrees at 6am. Three degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around October 12th. Light and variable wind. In 2018, we had cloudy skies in the evening, which became mostly clear by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 36 degrees. The record low of 20 occurred back in 1959.

The latest weekend forecast looks nice but a bit cool even for late October. 😎 I should think about heading out of town. Saturday, partly sunny, with a high near 52. Sunday, mostly sunny, with a high near 53. Typical average high for the weekend is 56 degrees.

I have to look at my time bank πŸ•’ but I might take a long weekend. I am considering heading out to Stoney Pond in Nelson and maybe hunting and camping there. β›Ί I could also go up Pisceo-Powley Road or somewhere else. Still weighting my options the week is young.

As previously noted, there are 3 weeks until Veterans Day πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ when the sun will be setting at 4:37 pm with dusk at 5:07 pm (Standard Time). On that day in 2018, we had partly cloudy, snow showers and temperatures between 41 and 26 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 50 degrees. We hit a record high of 70 back in 2002.

Parking

If our next president wanted to be really popular, he’d run on the platform of more parking. As we all know, parking is the only thing most Americans really care about.
