August 21, 2019 Morning

Good morning! Happy State Fair Opens 🎑! Or so I think I don’t know or care as I rarely get out to Syracuse these days. Two weeks to Back to School Day πŸŽ’. Well not for me, I escaped the mind washing intensive education operation about two decades ago. I thought High School was mostly a waste of time. I wish they taught me about useful things, not imaginary numbers and the hutus and tutus. One month until the average high temperature is 70.πŸ‚ Cloudy and 69 degrees in Delmar, NY. ☁ There is a south-southeast breeze at 7 mph. πŸƒ. The dew point is 66 degrees. The skies will clear around 10 pm.

It’s back to work today πŸ”™ after my vacationette. I had time to use it and it was nice to spend some time literally off the grid where I could not hear the news. πŸ“» I think all of the politicians have gotten so obnoxious and detached from reality. And I wish the incumbent president would grow a backbone and stick up for what is right. 2019 might make me into a conservative as the incumbent in the White House certainly ain’t. Speaking of Whitehouse, I should go camping there at least one night this autumn. The bugs and crowds should be gone from Whitehouse by now and it’s a nice stop over on the way up 30 to Moose River Plains. β›Ί Camping was nice enough although the weather certainly wasn’t perfect and things were muddy at times. πŸ’¦

Today will have a chance of showers and thunderstorms, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after noon. Some storms could be severe, with heavy rain. Mostly cloudy 🌩, with a high of 82 degrees at 3pm. Two degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around August 9th. Maximum dew point of 71 at 4pm. South wind 7 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies. It was somewhat humid. The high last year was 80 degrees. The record high of 98 was set in 1916.

The sun will set at 7:47 pm with dusk around 8:17 pm, which is one minute and 34 seconds earlier than yesterday. πŸŒ‡ At sunset, look for rain 🌧 and thunderstorms 🌩 and temperatures around 79 degrees. The dew point will be 70 degrees. There will be a south breeze at 9 mph. Today will have 13 hours and 38 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 39 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will have a chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 1am. Some of the storms could produce gusty winds and heavy rain. Mostly cloudy 🌧, with a low of 68 degrees at 5am. Nine degrees above normal. Maximum dew point of 71 at 6pm. South wind 3 to 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms. In 2018, we had mostly clear skies in the evening, which became mostly clear by the early hours of the morning. It became sticky as the night progressed. It got down to 66 degrees. The record low of 39 occurred back in 1982.

On this day in 1959, United States President Dwight D. Eisenhower signs an executive order proclaiming Hawaii the 50th state of the union. I guess that makes Barack Obama a US Citizen.🌼 Not that the incumbent in the White House would believe that. But nowadays he’s been busy in a shopping spree for Denmark, I mean Greenland. ❄ Maybe if they don’t agree to a voluntary buy out the United States can bomb πŸ’£a few of their houses kind of like how they tore off the roofs of houses subject to eminent domain back in the 1960s when the tenants refused to leave condemned property. 😜

A picture perfect weekend on tap. 😎 Saturday, sunny, with a high near 76. Maximum dew point of 57 at 4pm. Sunday, mostly sunny, with a high near 77. Maximum dew point of 59 at 1pm. Typical average high for the weekend is 79 degrees. Might be a nice weekend but I might finally stay in town although I might go for a hike somewhere on Sunday. 🚢

As previously noted, there are 2 weeks until Back to School Day πŸŽ’ when the sun will be setting at 7:24 pm with dusk at 7:53 pm. On that day in 2018, we had hazy, hot, and humid weather under mostly sunny skies mostly sunny and temperatures between 89 and 68 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 77 degrees. We hit a record high of 97 back in 1929.

Heading Out on Lake Kusaqua
