"A study published Monday in the journal PNAS details what the scientists say is the largest investigation of the association between green spaces and mental health. Researchers from Aarhus University in Denmark found that growing up near vegetation is associated with an up to 55 percent lower risk of mental health disorders in adulthood. Kristine Engemann, the biologist who led the study, combined decades of satellite imagery with extensive health and demographic data of the Danish population to investigate the mental health effects of growing up near greenery. Good morning! February is almost done. I’m glad about that, February is certainly not my favorite month. Three weeks to Spring 🌷. We could use that about now. Partly cloudy and 15 degrees in Delmar. ⛅ There is a north-northwest breeze at 7 mph. 🍃 Despite the cold, the sun is quite warming and actually I turned down the heat after I got up this morning as I was too warm. God left us with 6.5 inches of snow on the ground. ☃ A little more snow than I expected. Landlord plowed, roads in the city are still a bit slushy. Sun is helping clean things up a bit. ️It will start to thaw out tomorrow around noontime. 🌡️
Today will be mostly sunny 🌞, with a high of 27 degrees at 3pm. 11 degrees below normal. Northwest wind around 8 mph. A year ago, we had mostly sunny. The high last year was 60 degrees. The record high of 63 was set in 1903. 9.7 inches of snow fell back in 1948.❄
The sun will set at 5:44 pm with dusk around 6:12 pm, which is one minute and 14 seconds later than yesterday. 🌇 At sunset, look for partly clear skies 🌄 and temperatures around 25 degrees. There will be a north-northwest breeze at 6 mph. Today will have 11 hours and 12 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 50 seconds over yesterday.
Tonight will be mostly cloudy 🌥, with a low of 14 degrees at 4am. Seven degrees below normal, which is similiar to a typical night around January 27th. Maximum wind chill around 12 at 10pm; Northwest wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the evening. In 2018, we had light rain in the evening, which became partly cloudy by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 35 degrees. The record low of -9 occurred back in 1948. Exceptionally cold nights become rare as March gets underway.
Tomorrow, which is March 1st, will be mostly sunny 🌞, with a high of 34 degrees at 2pm. Five degrees below normal, which is similiar to a typical day around February 14th. Light and variable wind. A year ago, we had mostly sunny. The high last year was 50 degrees. The record high of 66 was set in 2017. 10.7 inches of snow fell back in 2005.❄
After a long commute home, stuck in traffic on the bus,🚌 I made it home around 6:30. I ended up riding the exercise bike for about an hour, listening to a podcast and watching some old dashcam videos🚲 than some videos I downloaded then retiring to bed around nine.
Yesterday I had fish sticks and green beans for dinner, something easy to cook up.🐟 I thought about going for a walk but the snow was pretty deep and I wanted to get to bed earlier. 😴 I slept okay, getting to bed around nine and waking around six, in part because the sun rises so early now☀ and the landlord was out plowing early. Grind, grind. At least the driveway was clean.
Right now, a split verdict on the weekend. 😕 Saturday, a chance of snow before 1pm, then a chance of rain and snow between 1pm and 4pm, then a chance of snow after 4pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 36. Light and variable wind. Chance of precipitation is 50%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible. Sunday, a chance of snow after noon. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 35. Chance of precipitation is 40%. Typical average high for the weekend is 39 degrees.
Probably stick around town this weekend. I’m thinking about going shopping and out to the folks house on Saturday. 💭 Sunday doesn’t look that great but I might see if I can catch a bus downtown on Sunday to help John Wolcott with his history project.
In four weeks on March 28 the sun will be setting at 7:17 pm (Daylight Savings Time),🌄 which is one hour, 32 minutes and 59 seconds later then today.
