World Bank: Global waste generation could increase 70% by 2050

"Annual global waste production will increase by 70% if current conditions persist, according to β€œWhat a Waste 2.0,” a newly published report from the World Bank that was multiple years in the making. Currently, about 2.01 billion metric tons of municipal solid waste (MSW) are produced annually worldwide. The World Bank estimates overall waste generation will increase to 3.40 billion metric tons by 2050. An estimated 13.5% of today's waste is recycled and 5.5% is composted. The report estimates that between one-third and 40% of waste generated worldwide is not managed properly and instead dumped or openly burned."

September 24, 2018 Morning

Good morning! Monday’s come back around again on this cool and crisp late September day. Next Monday is October 🛥. Mostly sunny and 45 degrees in North Syracuse. Calm wind. I can complain about how bad it seems like weather is during most of autumn but not today for sure.😎 Just going to be an amazing day.

Today will be sunny 🌞 , with a high of 70 degrees at 3pm. One degree above normal. Maximum dew point of 53 at 5pm. Light east wind becoming southeast 6 to 11 mph in the morning. Should be a fantastic day. A year ago, we had sunny skies. It was sticky. The high last year was 90 degrees. That’s the record high.

I have a meeting downtown at 9:30 but I think I’ll try to get in a short walk along Onondaga Lake before I go to meeting. 🌅 Should be a nice morning especially if there is lake fog burning off.

The sun will set at 6:57 pm with dusk around 7:25 pm, which is one minute and 48 seconds earlier than yesterday. 🌇 At sunset, look for partly clear skies and 66 degrees. The dew point will be 53 degrees. There will be a southeast breeze at 11 mph. Todat will have 11 hours and 59 minutes of daytime, an decrease of 2 minutes and 56 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will rain, mainly after 2am. Increasing clouds β˜” , with a low of 56 degrees at 6am. Eight degrees above normal. Maximum dew point of 53 at 6pm. Looks like it will be a very wet, blustery night especially in the wesmellede hours. Southeast wind 11 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible. In 2017, we had clear skies. It was humid. It got down to 64 degrees. The record low of 29 occurred back in 1963.

The USB to audio DAC has been ordered and I’m hoping it will arrive on Wednesday or Thursday. Then I can use my regular headphones with the laptop. 🎧 Looks like they are pretty standardized and won’t require any special drivers. Sucks that my headphones jack broke but this might actually be more convenient for me with the USB.

Yesterday when I was out walking I smelled wood smoke.🔥That’s a sure sign of autumn. I am definitely looking forward to my big November trip which will be here before you know it. I kind of really like those long November nights, especially with a nice meal next to the fire. I am sure that the accessory battery will work great for the November trip now that I have solar on the truck.

As previously noted, next Monday is October 🛥 when the sun will be setting at 6:44 pm with dusk at 7:13 pm. On that day in 2017, we had heavy fog, sunny skies and temperatures between 66 and 39 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 66 degrees. We hit a record high of 90 back in 1927.
