July 25, 2018 Morning
Good morning! What day is it? A rainy day, soon. Next Wednesday is August π». Rain and showers and 77 degrees in Delmar.Β π§ There is a south-southeast breeze at 11 mph. π. The dew point is 70 degrees. The skies will clear tomorrow around 3 pm.
I decided to walk down to the express bus and I beat the rain. β Just started to rain after I got on the bus but I’m ready for whatever downpours we get today as I bought my rain coat. Hopefully all this rain will get it out of its system by next week when I’m on vacation.πΆNot a terrible walk down to the express bus.
A lot of traffic heading downtown although at least on Southern Boulevard moving and the morning rush is not unusual. We’ll until I got to the Emperors Plaza. Traffic is stopped and going very slow there. There is a broke-down parking shuttle bus on the South Mall Arterial, but also there seems to be other delays downtown. π Must be some kind of concert or special event like a Bar Exam. I’m not driving, so what do I care? The express bus is much more pleasant than local yokel bus. And I’ll still be in earlier than usual.
Today will have a chance of showers and thunderstorms, then occasional showers and possibly a thunderstorm after 10am. Some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall. β High of 80 degrees at 4pm. Three degrees below normal. Maximum dew point of 73 at 4pm. Muggy! ποΈ South wind 11 to 16 mph, with gusts as high as 26 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible. A year ago, we had light rain and mist in the morning, remaining cloudy in the afternoon. The high last year was 67 degrees. The record high of 97 was set in 1963.
The sun will set at 8:22 pm with dusk around 8:55 pm, which is 59 seconds earlier than yesterday. π At sunset, look for rain β and thunderstorms β and 76 degrees. The dew point will be 71 degrees. There will be a south breeze at 9 mph. Today will have 14 hours and 41 minutes of daytime, an increase of one minute and 58 seconds over yesterday.
Tonight will be occasional showers and possibly a thunderstorm. Some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall. β Low of 67 degrees at 5am. Five degrees above normal. Maximum dew point of 73 at 6pm. ποΈ South wind 5 to 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New rainfall amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible. In 2017, we had mostly cloudy skies. It got down to 57 degrees. The record low of 46 occurred back in 1976.
My stomach is feeling better today. π€ I am starting to think leaving the cold coffee on the stove for multiple days than drinking it is making me sick at times. I probably should start refrigerating it. Lately I’ve only been drinking coffee occasionally and usually just cold. I probably won’t drink coffee on vacation, although I’ll bring the pot should I decide to have a few cups on a cold and rainy day.
I am glad for the rain we get today as things had gotten pretty dried out, especially in the Adirondacks.Β There wasn’t a lot of water in the East Canada Creek last week.Β π I doubt I’ll get back up to Piseco-Powley Road until September, but who knows.
Tonight I want to spend some time cleaning up my apartment and maybe start packing for my trip. Thursday I’ll run down to the laundromat and Friday after work it’s Brookfield than the Finger Lakes via Montezuma on Saturday. βΊ Should be a great trip.
I updated the include file so that the weather template is working on my blog. I thought I had tested it out but more bugs popped up after the fact. I’m glad that was an easy fix. π» Sometimes even the best planned out and sandboxed projects have minor snags.
Regardless of the weather, vacation will be nice.β I really need to get away from work for a few days. π A day by the pool, hiking gorges, and swimming in the afternoon will be great.
On this day in 1965, Bob Dylan goes electric as he plugs in at the Newport Folk Festival, signaling a major change in folk and rock music. The crowds boo and hiss. Not very respectful. πΈIn 1993, The Saint James Church massacre occurs in Kenilworth, Cape Town, South Africa. π«Liberals use it as an excuse to take away people’s gun rights in Australia, which weren’t protected by an active gun culture or second amendment like in America.
As previously noted, next Wednesday is August π» when the sun will be setting at 8:15 pm with dusk at 8:46 pm. On that day in 2017, we had mostly sunny skies and temperatures between 87 and 62 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 82 degrees. We hit a record high of 101 back in 1933. I doubt it will be that hot next week.
