May 3, 2018 Morning

Good morning! Happy Thursday on this spring which feels more like summer morning. Sunny and a tad humid at 74 and one third degrees in Delmar, NY. 🌞β˜€🌞 There is a south breeze at 6 mph. 🍃. The dew point is 57 degrees. Things are starting to green up nicely in the city. 🌼🌷🌳🌾🌿

Is it too early to pull out that silly Billy Stewart record out? 😎Doubt it, I’m ready to believe that endless summer is here!

Today will have showers and thunderstorms likely, 💦⚑mainly after 4pm. Some of the storms could produce gusty winds. Mostly cloudy with haze 🌁, with a high of 84 degrees at 3pm. 18 degrees above normal. Maximum dew point of 62 at 4pm. A touch of muginesss but not so much that muggers will be complaining at city hall. 🏫South wind 6 to 9 mph becoming west in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms. A year ago, we had mostly cloudy skies. The high last year was 55 degrees. The record high of 89 was set in 2001. There was a dusting of snow in 1986.❄

The sun will set at 7:58 pm with dusk around 8:29 pm, which is one minute and 7 seconds later than yesterday. 🌇 At sunset, look for thunderstorms ⚑ and 80 degrees. The dew point will be 61 degrees. There will be a west-southwest breeze at 7 mph. Today will have 14 hours and 12 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 26 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will have showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly before 1am, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 4am. Cloudy ☁⚑, with a low of 64 degrees at 5am. 20 degrees above normal. Maximum dew point of 62 at 6pm. Southwest wind 5 to 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms. In 2017, we had mostly clear skies. It got down to 36 degrees. The record low of 28 occurred back in 1985.

Despite cooling down a bit it was kind of hard sleeping last night. Maybe because I’m just not used to the warmer nights.💤 74 degrees in my bedroom at eleven, it was 70 when I awoke and up to 71 degrees now. That display I built ensures that I always know the temperature all the time in my bedroom. I decided to save the ten watt hours that it might use today to fully unplug it while at work as there is no reason to leave the microprocessor running while I’m at work.

Definitely need to get to bed earlier though because I keep waking earlier due to the early sunrise of May. 🌷I keep waking up most mornings before 6. 🌄I find it important to get a good night’s sleep if I want to preform well the next day – at minimum 8 to 9 hours.

Based on the latest forecast I’m thinking about leaving Friday at five or maybe four for the Adirondacks. 🗻 Maybe there will be a thunderstorm or two on Friday night but I think it won’t be a wash out going into week and the balance of the weekend will quite nice. β›Ί If I leave at four I’m thinking about taking Thruway from Exit 24 and paying the extra buck to not deal with the Friday cluster duck🐥 known Exit 25 tolls. If I leave an hour earlier than I can get up there even earlier. β›ΊShould be a nice weekend.

This has been exceptionally cold and long winter.🌻 I’m glad the spring and summer weather is just around the corner. I think I’m even willing to accept and embrace black fly season. 🐜

There are 4 months until Labor Day 👨‍🏭 when the sun will be setting at 7:25 pm with dusk at 7:54 pm. I’m not sure if I’m ready to think about the end of endless summer. 🌻Six weeks to Flag Day and Seven to summer. Or so my VMS tells me in my bedroom. I thought about hanging out my big flag but not with the stormy weather predicted later. I mean all they talk about high brow NPR radio station these days is Stormy. 👸

On that note, I’m almost to work. Enjoy this beautiful spring day and watch out for the stormy weather later. β˜€βš‘

Struggling with the changes of getting older

At age 35, I often struggle to figure out what is better to do today versus wait for tomorrow.👴 Every year as a mature and get older, options close, roads not taken are forever closed off to me. If you overshoot your exit, you can’t back up on the highway. There is no turning around the clock of time. ⏳I will never be as young as I currently am, I will become less physically able to do certain things that🏃 I once had the potential to do while I was younger.

Time per se is not a bad thing. A little money saved each week over time adds up 📈and compounds both as an investment and with interest.💰 Money opens up options, and buying with cash is always much cheaper and flexible than credit. Cash just goes so much farther.💵

While by no means should I take the first exit on the highway,🚧 I should be a thoughtful observer of every exit that I pass on by. A some point the highway of life may come to an abrupt end – accidents, cancer, heart attacks – sometimes strike people much too young.🐍 But honestly I know it’s worth the risk as their are better exits ahead on the straight and narrow highway, 🌻and just because a sign is shiny and new doesn’t mean that is the exit you want to your ultimate destination.

My conservative estimate is that I will likely live until age 70. Maybe longer, maybe less. 😯In ten years from now I’ll have 20 years in with the state, fifteen it will be 25. I’m generally happy with my course, I have a great job, a beautiful office with million dollar views of the mountains.🗻 I think I’m fairly good at my job. So even if I decide at age 45 or 50 to do something else, I’ll have many options still ahead of me. But I should really pay attention to what’s coming up on the highway of life, 🎰and give every passing exit another thought before leaving it forever in the rear view mirror.🔰
