New York bill would ban riflery, trap shooting, archery in public schools

A state lawmaker from New York City has authored a bill that would end riflery, trap shooting and archery as a sport in public schools. Assemblywoman Linda B. Rosenthal, a Democrat who represents the 67th Assembly District in western Manhattan, introduced the bill on April 20. At this point, there is no co-sponsor for it in the state Senate. The bill, A10428, which was sent to the Assembly's Education Committee, would amend the state's Education Law and calls for the "prohibition of marksmanship and/or shooting programs in public schools" - a change that "shall take effect immediately." Rosenthal's bill, covering "marksmanship and/or shooting programs," includes "any competitive or recreational shooting activities involving proficiency tests of accuracy, precision and speed in using various types of ranged weapons, such as firearms and air gun, in forms such as handguns, rifles and shotguns and/or bows or crossbows."

April 28, 2018 Afternoon

Kind of a humid and increasingly overcast afternoon. Mostly cloudy ☁and 65 degrees at the Albany Pine Bush🌲. There is a south breeze at 9 mph. 🍃. The dew point is 47 degrees.

Today was the Save the Pine Bush hike over at Blueberry Hill. Then we got lunch at Yonder Farms and now I’m walking alone or mostly alone at the Pine Bush Center. Feels remarkably humid with thunderstorms and rain showers pushing in. Sitting on the bench down by the swamp.

The 18 donors who’ve given Cuomo more than $100K

"In the 32 months since Gov. Andrew Cuomo won a second term in office, 18 donors have given his campaign committee over $100,000. That’s double the number at this point in his first term. As was the case during his first four years in office, Cuomo has been dependent on real estate for his campaign money. Most donors are limited to $65,100 but a company that controls multiple limited liability companies can give this amount for each of them, a system the governor has derided as β€œa pure loophole in the campaign finance law.” It particularly benefits real estate developers, as they often have one LLC for each property. As a result, each of Cuomo’s seven largest donors and of 11 of his top 18 are involved in real estate. "

Before the Pine Bush hike I have to go to the office and write a Saturday morning press release which is just great. I could do it at home but I’m too poor and disinterested to have internet at home. Fun shit. I never get a weekend off these days.

Built a much larger, 20 module, 30 character ticker tape display for my apartment. Almost three feet long. Works well except for the timer function as I still don’t have the DS3231 Chip talking to the card. Really like how it came out now that its up on the wall. Might even make it longer but then I would have to find a longer place to put it.
