Adirondack Homeland Rock at Crane Pond Road

Crane Pond Road is a road quite a bit of history, with the Adirondack's version of the Sagebush Rebellion. A brief history: "In 1990, a group of men wearing masks removed the boulders and vowed to keep the road open. Members of Earth First, a radical environmental group, later pitched tents at the start of road to keep out vehicles. Footage later aired on a 60 Minutes piece about violence against environmentalists."

April 22, 2018 Morning

Good morning! Happy Earth Day. 🌎 Who doesn’t like that nice earthy smell of the wilderness and the freshly tilled farm field in spring time? 🚜Three weeks to Mothers Day 👩‍. Sunny and 47 degrees in Delmar, NY. 🌞 Calm wind.

Finally, the windows are open and the fresh air is streaming in. ⬛ I do feel a bit sick from my cold but I got a good 13 hours of sleep last night. I seem to have such problems with getting sick this year. I’m not totally sure why. Depending on how I feel after work today I might go out to my parents house for dinner but maybe not. If I do I will either want to drive home before dark or maybe I’ll camp over at their house. β›ΊDepends. I’m thinking I may just want to go home after work and then the laundromat and buy some groceries. It turns out that I have to drive to Troy in the morning so it might just be easier to head home and get more sleep in my regular bed.

Today will be sunny 🌞, with a high of 61 degrees at 4pm. Typical for today. Calm wind becoming northwest 5 to 9 mph in the morning. Nice day ahead. A year ago, we had cloudy skies with some clearing in the afternoon. The high last year was 55 degrees. The record high of 86 was set in 1985. 1 inch of snow fell back in 1928. ❄

The sun will set at 7:45 pm with dusk around 8:15 pm, which is one minute and 9 seconds later than yesterday. 🌇 At sunset, look for clear skies and 55 degrees. There will be a north-northwest breeze at 7 mph. Today will have 13 hours and 44 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 40 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will be clear 🌌, with a low of 31 degrees at 5am. Nine degrees below normal. Northwest wind around 6 mph becoming calm in the evening. In 2017, we had mostly cloudy skies, clearing in the early hours of the next day. It got down to 35 degrees. The record low of 26 occurred back in 1975. Maybe I should close my windows again tonight.

As previously noted, there are 3 weeks until Mothers Day 👩‍ when the sun will be setting at 8:09 pm with dusk at 8:41 pm. On that day in 2017, we had rain, mist, cloudy skies and temperatures between 55 and 47 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 69 degrees. We hit a record high of 86 back in 2004.
