April 27, 2017 Morning

Good morning! Happy Thursday. Five weeks to Start of June.Β Cloudy and sixty-two degrees here in Glenmont. Calm wind. The dew point is 54 degrees. The skies will clear around 11 am.

Today will have patchy fog before 10am. Otherwise, partly sunny, with a high of 79 degrees at 3pm. 16 degrees above normal. Maximum dew point of 57 at 12pm. Light southeast wind becoming south 5 to 9 mph in the morning. Might not be a half bad day once the skies clear. A year ago, we had fog and a high of 58 degrees. The record high of 91 was set in 1962. There was a dusting of snow in 1946.

It seems like there is more volume of traffic heading downtown the normal but we are still moving. Maybe more people are working today compared to previous weeks during April break. Traffic is stop and go slow through the Empire State Plaza, although it’s kind of neat how they’ve turned back on the giant waterfalls on in the front of the plaza. Yeap, the ones which famously cost taxpayers $175 an hour to run the pumps. Well, we are the Emperor’s State. Nobody ever accused the Empire Plaza as being energy efficient.

The sun will set at 7:51 pm with dusk around 8:22 pm, which is one minute and 8 seconds later than yesterday. Today will have 13 hours and 58 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 34 seconds over yesterday. Tomorrow will have 14 hours of daylight which will be nice.

Tonight will have a chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 1am. Increasing clouds, with a low of 60 degrees at 5am. 18 degrees above normal. Maximum dew point of 56 at 6pm. South wind 8 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%. Leave your windows open. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms. In 2016, it got down to 35 degrees under mostly cloudy skies. The record low of 25 occurred back in 1947.

I am increasingly thinking about staying in town this weekend as the forecast doesn’t look that nice. And I should save my money to buy another pair of work boots as the hole in the sole of the boots I’m wearing has grown increasingly large even while the leather is okay. Β I could head out of time, for the last weekend in a while, but I just don’t think the weather is going to be all the nice. I’ll back happy though when Black Fly Season is over and the Adirondack Roads are all open once again.

Looking ahead, there are 5 weeks until Start of June when the sun will be setting at 8:26 pm with dusk at 9:01 pm. On that day in 2016, we had partly cloudy skies and temperatures between 85 and 57 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 74 degrees. We hit a record high of 94 back in 1918.
