October 12, 2016 Evening

Good afternoon.Β It is 71 degrees and sunny outside this afternoon in North Syracuse.Β A nice afternoon with a light breeze.

At sunset, look for mostly clear conditions and 68 degrees. The dew point will be 49 degrees. There will be a south breeze at 8 mph.

The sun will set at 6:25 pm with dusk around 6:53 pm, which is 1 minutes and 40 seconds earlier than yesterday.

Waxing Gibbous Moon tonight with 79% illuminated. The moon will set around 6:09 am. The Full β€œHunter” Moon is on Sunday at 4:23 am with mostly clear skies expected with chance of showers expected.

This year, I decided to vote forΒ Jill Stein for PresidentΒ when I filled out my absentee ballot.Β It’s been mailed.Β I was really undecided about who I would vote for president, and while I kind of liked Donald Trump, I decided Jill Stein had a better platform and was closer to me on the issues. I think we need a new, progressive direction for our country, and I wasn’t interested in revisiting the 1990s. But IΒ didn’t like any of the major candidates. I thought about leaving the ballot blank.Β But I figured it was irresponsible not to vote at all for President.Β So Jill Stein is my choice. I voted on the Working Families line for the rest of the candidates.

I’m just glad I don’t have to pay attention to the horse race or politics any more through Election Day …

October 12, 2016 Morning

Good morning! Happy Hump Day. Not half bad day with partly sunny continues and 48 degrees in North Syracuse. There is a southeast breeze at 5 mph.

Got up early and walked for about an hour at Green Lakes State Park.Β I was up in the fields and hiking around enjoying the colors. At least there were some good blue skies today, although the colors still have a way to go when you down in the valley around Syracuse. I’m sure in a week or two the colors will be a lot better. I’m hoping to get down to Tully this weekend to do more hiking, and indeed the weekend looks pretty nice.

Also got my absentee ballot today.Β I still got think about some of the candidates, but I think I will probably vote in the next few days and just get it over. Then I don’t have to think about elections or politics anymore until next year. I just got to find a stamp somewhere. They really should pre-paid return envelopes for absentee ballots, as many of us can’t be bothered to go to the post office and buy a single stamp.

For the rest of today, it will be sunny, with a high of 70 degrees at 3pm. Nine degrees above normal.Β Seventy degrees in mid-October isn’t bad. Today will have 11 hours and 8 minutes of daylight, a decrease of 2 minutes and 51 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will be mostly clear, with a low of 54 degrees at 1am.Β After a cold Monday evening into Tuesday morning, tonight will be 11 degrees above normal. Maximum dew point of 49 at 7pm. South wind around 7 mph. The record low of 24 occurred back in 1981.

There are 7 weeks until First Day with Temperatures Recorded Below Zero when the sun will be setting at 4:30 pm with dusk at 5:02 pm (Standard Time). The average high temperature is 42 degrees, with a record high of 67 in 1933.

A pretty nice day, not too hot and with colors starting to pop out a bit. While it seemed like the long weekend came and went too quickly, today was busy but things moved along quite smoothly with only minor hitches. The long range for the weekend looks quite nice. Tomorrow thinking about hiking at Green Lakes before I head to work.
