DEC Announces Sale Of 2016-17 Hunting And Trapping Licenses Beginning August 1.
The question is will the system actually work this year?
I think I will buy mine at the DEC's 625 Broadway License Sales, just because they have at least a 30% chance of being competent, when you go directly to the License Sales Department.
August 1, 2016 9 AM Update
Good morning! Certainly a dark and dreary start to August. Rain and 67 degrees in Delmar. Calm wind. The dew point is 66 degrees.
Back to work after vacation. So be it. I need more money to keep Big Red’s tank full, to buy more beer and ammunition. That and Dick’s big hunting season specials start this week and I’m always looking for new toys. Vacation was fun but it has to come to am end.
Today will have showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm before 2pm, then scattered showers and thunderstorms after 2pm. Cloudy, with a high of 75 degrees at 2pm. Seven degrees below normal. East wind 3 to 6 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms. Maximum dew point of 67 at 4pm. The record high of 101 was set in 1933. The sun will set at 8:14 pm with dusk around 8:46 pm, which is 1 minutes and 11 seconds earlier than yesterday. Today will have 14 hours and 25 minutes of daylight, a decrease of 2 minutes and 13 seconds over yesterday.

Maximum temperature will be 75 degrees, a heat index reaching 75, and a maximum dew point of 67. Thursday 1pm – Saturday 3pm. Maximum temperature will be 87 degrees, a heat index reaching 91, and a maximum dew point of 69.
Nine years ago today, the I-35W Mississippi River bridgespanning the Mississippi River in Minneapolis, Minnesota, collapses during the evening rush hour. It seems like yesterday. Time sure goes fast.
There are 2 weeks until National Relaxation Day when the sun will be setting at 7:55 pm with dusk at 8:25 pm. The average high temperature is 81 degrees, with a record high of 96 in 1959.
Speaking of relaxation, summer’s unofficial ending is five weeks with Labor Day Weekend and August becoming September in four weeks. I hope to get up to either Piseco-Powley Road and the Potholers, Burnt-Rossman and the Mine Kill State Park, or Pumpkin Hollow Road and the Wells Beach before the month is over – probably twice this month for weekend trips. For Labor Day Weekend, assuming I can get out of town, I’m looking at Green Mountain National Forest as with Memorial Day although I could change my mind and go to Moose River Plains. I like MRP, but I’ve spent a lot of time there in recent years and it’s quite a haul.
Summer is rapidly coming to a conclusion. But I’ll make the most of the remaining days. Stay dry!
