Not quite to the weekend but still a nice day. The weekend would be great – nice and hot but it’s still early May and Piseco-Powley Rd is still closed, the Potholers are still frigid and there is a high fire risk.

I think this will be a brutally hot weekend but I will be staying in town. May get my kayak out on the Hudson River (the lack of rain means less raw sewage in the river), maybe do some fishing too.

I also want to use my new GPS app on my phone with some of the KMZ maps I’ve downloaded from my blog. Being able to pre-download official USGS topographic maps and overlay DEC trail data and assests like campsites is pretty nice. You can also set way points and your GPS points you in the direction you need to go.

I’m just so glad summer has come back around. Now if we just get little rain and Memorial Day Weekend rolls around, and the roads open up, it will be true summer and just plain awesome. I look forward to those days.
