Schenectady County is a county located in the U.S. state of New York. As of the 2010 census, the population was 154,727. It is part of the Albany-Schenectady-Troy Metropolitan Statistical Area. The county seat is Schenectady. Schenectady County is located west of Albany on the Mohawk River, and contains both the river and uplands around it.

    I live at 227 Front St bet. River St and Mohawk Ave…I see where my property is in the gold colored area of the 500-yr. plan…It’s why I haven’t paid flood insurance…I did prior to 2011’s Hurricane Irene and a short time after that, but was told I didn’t need insurance if I’m just outside of the 100-yr. plan. Please explain. I’ve been paying homeowner’s insurance and I haven’t had to pay flood.

    Can u change your flood map colors to the same as FEMA where x500 is gold and 100 (A, AE, etc.) are red?

      Maybe at some point but that would require a different data set. This map pulls data created by the state for locating gas stations in flood plains to assist with planning after disasters and mostly is posted here for casual use and exploration
