We’ve made it to February ☃️

After a dry but gray start to the morning, it turned to the inevitable rain then snow and slop by the time I got home on the local bus, as the express pulled out a bit too early from bus turn around to make my transfer on Friday night.

I much prefer to catch the express then the local but it’s tough at times with the transfer between the bus and shuttle, 🚀 🚌 though hopefully soon I’ll be able to ride both ways on my mountain bike each day up to Menands. 🚵 Even though the bus is slower, it’s a good time to read books on my phone 📚and it beats driving on those congested highways with cops sitting at every corner 👮 writing $1,000 court summons to every other driver they see and the car behind you smashing repeatedly into your rear bumper. Plus, lately I’ve taking later locals as I’ve been walking 🚶 the Concourse in evening.

The other night, I noticed a big police presence at Concourse bus station, 🚨 and they removed much of bench seating today and had two Capitol Security detail people watching it last night. I’m sure the news media 📰 reported on some gang rape of a 25-year old Health Department Secretary by a homeless drug addict, even though that was mostly just a good story to sell advertising for green laundry soap and Kia Automobiles. The one good thing is I haven’t been seeing so many needles and feces 💉 in the stairwells in Plaza though admittedly since I work in suburbs next to the plant where they burn poop and send PFAS into the air while the county brags about not spreading it on fields, so I don’t use those particular stairs 🧗 much anymore. Honestly, I think they need more bathrooms 🚽, training, 👨‍🏫 jobs, 👷 housing 🏘, and garbage cans 🗑 but don’t tell that to news media, they got plastic shit to sell.

The soup and beans for dinner last night was good. 🍲 Loaded up with mushrooms, onions, and obviously beans, plus homemade bread I made before work, it was good once I got the soup from my truck (where I had let it cool), and then reheated it up. I’m not going to waste electricity ⚡ or break the new refigerator chilling an warm pot of soup when the natural cold outdoors can do the same thing. Not that the energy per se is wasted, as the harder the refrigerator pushes out the heat, it just goes to heat my apartment and means the furnace doesn’t work as hard, as energy doesn’t really disappear any more then those plastic containers I toss into the fire up in woods. 🔥 Unless of course your a liberal, then I mean washing them out and recycling them. ♻

After dinner I hopped on my phone, and opened up Facebook. 💻 I was shocked to find my feed full of posts about saluting cops and government workers. It was like Trump has taken over Facebook. I’ve noticed since TikTok came back, the quality has gone enormously as I think the government censors have taken it over, or more likely I think the social media companies are hoping for tax and regulatory relief from the Trumpster. 🤑 After getting really angry, 😡 I quickly shut it down and went over to Hoopla to find 10 books to get out of the library before my January borrows expire. 📚 I listened to a video or two about humanure and composting poop and the topic of outhouses on the Youtube, or Brave New Pipe which is the app without all that commercial crap that Youtube has. 💩 Unfortunately it’s throwing a lot of errors again as Youtube keeps changing their interface to try to keep from people skipping their advertisements for the crap products nobody actually would buy. 📺

It wasn’t a bad week for sure, indeed I was thrilled about the report writer being now callable from the bash terminal on the server at work. 📜 You don’t know how much time this will save me, compared to having to call the reports manually, one at a time on the web interface, waiting for the report writer to crank out each report individually and then having to manually rename the files. ⌛ Now I can run those extra-slow reports into the night in No Hang Up mode (nohup). The best thing about my job is that I’m getting super good at the bash shell and SQL, and generally fixing and linking records together. 💻 I used to be good, now I’m getting really good. I might not be a programmer, but I feel like a year into running the Data Services division, I am really becoming excellent at things all things data. 🧮 Throw me an address that doesn’t USPS code, and I can fix in my head, or in most cases by studying the record in a few seconds. 📈 I should do more interesting analysis for the blog, but admittedly, when I’m working on data all day long, I’m less interested in doing data things when I get home. And do I work like crazy at work these days 🤣 but I love my job 😍 and we are rolling out great new products at our agency now that were never done before.

It’s snowing out this morning, 🌨 though it seems warm enough that the roads are fine, but my truck mostly free of road salt after washing it on Sunday evening is going to get salt-encrusted when I go out to folks 👨‍👩‍👦 rather then tomorrow, because it looks like we have another clipper snow storm coming in for this upcoming Sunday evening. I haven’t decided if I will go shopping on Sunday morning 🛒 or wait until Monday after work, 😀 as I could also do a quick car wash after then, though it seems silly this time of year, but I hate to leave the remaining non-rusty parts of my big jacked up truck 🛻 encrusted in salt. Salt belt life! 🪱 The tin worm never sleeps. I might walk down to the library in a bit as there is some files I want to get download as I have some idea for maps and actual useful for content for my blog.
