The Day the Music Died 2016 Night

Good evening. Currently mostly cloudy with dense fog in places and 56 degrees with a dewpoint of 51 in Delmar. How often do you look at the dewpoint in February? Right now it’s the warmest it has ever been on February 3rd in Albany. I can complain about winter but it’s been pretty mild all winter.

Tonight will have a slight chance of showers. Patchy dense fog. Otherwise, cloudy, with a low around 41. South wind 6 to 8 mph becoming west after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Tomorrow’s sunrise will be at 7:05 am with first light at 6:36 am, which is 2 minutes earlier then today. Next week the sun is up before 7 but with the low sun angle it still kind of hangs behind the trees. Clearing mid morning with ample sun later tomorrow, around 46 degrees for a high. A breeze will make the air feel a bit cooler than the mercury. A bit cooler on Friday and a split verdict for the weekend.

It’s remarkable that only 6% of the Great Lakes are covered by ice this year and that they are still mostly open water. It’s been such an unusual winter with El Nino dominating the weather pattern.

It was a nice evening for a walk down to the library and then for my evening walk around the High School. Maybe not summer like but not that cold either. It’s been great not having to deal with snowy, ice covered sidewalks all winter.

I keep discovering new an interesting maps to produce with QGIS. I have to say data.ny.gov is a really great resource for all those looking for data collected by state government.

I hope you had a good Wednesday and got your fill of listening to the Big Bobber and Buddy Holly today. Sleep well!
