I am going to vote for libertarian Jo Jergenson for President πŸ—³ πŸ—½

I think I am going to vote for libertarian Jo Jergenson for President πŸ—³ πŸ—½

While I think Joe Biden will be a better president than Donald Trump, I don’t think it really matters who I vote for president in New York with the electoral college and the fact that Biden is widely expected to win New York by a million or more votes than Donald Trump, driven by the deeply blue New York City.

I think voting third party advances alternative ideas and gives third party candidates more prominence in the future. I think both Biden and Trump represent old ways of thinking and doing things, that we need real change in our country and its not going to be advanced by the two party system. We should look seriously at third parties, especially in low stake elections in non swing states.

Lately I’ve been voting libertarian a lot more, in part because the party has automatic ballot access in New York State and because I am attracted to many of its ideas calling for a smaller government. I know when I own my own land and the off grid property I am going to want to be left alone to farm and hunt my land, take care of things responsibly without a lot of government involvement. I want my gun rights to be preserved, to be treated with respect by my government and for the right to be left alone.

Nothing is going to change whether or not I vote for Biden. While having a bigger popular vote margin gives Biden more bragging rights it won’t overcome the electoral college. So I feel like it’s my right to vote my conscience, even if I fully understand that Biden is vastly superior to Trump.

Trump Secretly Mocks His Christian Supporters – The Atlantic

Trump Secretly Mocks His Christian Supporters – The Atlantic

“They’re all hustlers,” Trump said.

The president’s alliance with religious conservatives has long been premised on the contention that he takes them seriously, while Democrats hold them in disdain. In speeches and interviews, Trump routinely lavishes praise on conservative Christians, casting himself as their champion. “My administration will never stop fighting for Americans of faith,” he declared at a rally for evangelicals earlier this year. It’s a message his campaign will seek to amplify in the coming weeks as Republicans work to confirm Amy Coney Barrett—a devout, conservative Catholic—to the Supreme Court.

But in private, many of Trump’s comments about religion are marked by cynicism and contempt, according to people who have worked for him. Former aides told me they’ve heard Trump ridicule conservative religious leaders, dismiss various faith groups with cartoonish stereotypes, and deride certain rites and doctrines held sacred by many of the Americans who constitute his base.

The Banana Trick and Other Acts of Self-Checkout Thievery

Perhaps it’s not surprising that some people steal from machines more readily than from human cashiers. “Anyone who pays for more than half of their stuff in self checkout is a total moron,” reads one of the more militant comments in a Reddit discussion on the subject. “There is NO MORAL ISSUE with stealing from a store that forces you to use self checkout, period. THEY ARE CHARGING YOU TO WORK AT THEIR STORE.” Barbara Staib, the director of communications of the National Association for Shoplifting Prevention, believes that self-checkouts tempt people who are already predisposed to shoplifting, by allowing them to rationalize their behavior. “Most shoplifters are in fact otherwise law-abiding citizens. They would chase behind you to return the $20 bill you dropped, because you’re a person and you would miss that $20.” A robot cashier, though, changes the equation: It “gives the false impression of anonymity,” Staib says. “This apparently empowers people to shoplift.”
