September 8, 2020 Morning

Good morning! Happy Tuesday. It’s the Tuesday after Labor Day which normally would mean congested roads from all the school students and parents commuting 🚸. But with the pandemic smoldering all around us with schools closed and remote work that’s not much of a concern this year. 🚗🚕🚛🚐🚑🚓🚚 Two weeks to Autumn 🍂. Won’t know that today, it’s Indian Summer. 🦋

Already feels a bit like a summer morning but not quite as muggy. Partly cloudy and 62 degrees in Delmar, NY. ⛅ There is a south breeze at 5 mph. 🍃. The dew point is 60 degrees. Going to be a hot day by September standards. But not uncommon for late July.

Today will be mostly sunny 🌞, with a high of 83 degrees at 4pm. Eight degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around July 26th. Maximum dew point of 64 at 12pm. South wind 5 to 8 mph. A year ago, we had partly cloudy skies in the morning with some clearing in the afternoon. The high last year was 73 degrees. The record high of 94 was set in 2015.

Solar noon 🌞 is at 12:54 pm with sun having an altitude of 52.9° from the due south horizon (-18° vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 4.5 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour 🏅 starts at 6:41 pm with the sun in the west (272°). 📸 The sunset is in the west (278°) with the sun dropping below the horizon at 7:19 pm after setting for 2 minutes and 56 seconds with dusk around 7:45 pm, which is one minute and 46 seconds earlier than yesterday. 🌇 The best time to look at the stars is after 8:21 pm. At sunset, look for partly clear skies 🌄 and temperatures around 77 degrees. The dew point will be 63 degrees. There will be a south breeze at 6 mph. Today will have 12 hours and 48 minutes of daytime, a decrease of 2 minutes and 50 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will have patchy fog after 3am. Otherwise, partly cloudy 🌤, with a low of 62 degrees at 5am. Eight degrees above normal. Maximum dew point of 63 at 6pm. South wind 3 to 5 mph. In 2019, we had mostly clear skies in the evening, which became partly cloudy by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 49 degrees. The record low of 36 occurred back in 1938.

Saturday still looks nice with Sunday not so good. 😵 Saturday, mostly sunny, with a high near 73. Maximum dew point of 50 at 4pm. Sunday, a chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 73. Chance of precipitation is 50%. Maximum dew point of 61 at 1pm. Typical average high for the weekend is 74 degrees.

I doubt the next two weekends I’ll be getting out of town, 🏡 but that could change. I’m still waiting to hear about Piseco Powley Road lower bridge 🌉 and when it’s going to reopen. I would like to get one more chance to do the Potholers if it isn’t super hot this weekend.

With all the mice in the woods 🐭 I’m wondering how long it will be they are inside my apartment. The walls bow out in the kitchen making it easy for them to sneak in. Plus I’m a dirty hick 👨🏻‍🌾 and while I do try to clean the crumbs up and take the trash and compost out occasionally they never have any shortage to eat. 🚮 I am thinking about building a bucket trap this year to put in the kitchen and see how many I can catch for shits and giggles and because I hate they noise that make on the wall.

Looking forward to my Black Lives Matters flag arriving. 🖤🖤🖤 While I don’t have any place to hang it at home I’ll definitely have it up at camping and maybe if I attend some of the local protests. ✊🏿✊🏾✊🏽✊🏼✊🏻 Seems like a popular things to day and a fitting thing for my collection. Injustice one place is injustice everywhere. 👮🏻‍♂️👮🏾‍♀️

As previously noted, there are 2 weeks until Autumn 🍂 when the sun will be setting at 6:52 pm with dusk at 7:20 pm. On that day in 2019, we had hot, mostly sunny, shallow fog and temperatures between 87 and 51 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 70 degrees. We hit a record high of 95 back in 1895.
