September 27, 2019 Morning
Good morning! Yeah, it’s Friday! One week until my October Road Trip. πFive weeks to November π₯§. Mostly sunny and 50 degrees in Delmar, NY. Calm wind.
I’m excited that I will be leaving for vacation in a little over a week. πAlways happens so fast. Not sure how many leaves I will see on the way down but by the time I’m West Virginia there should be some good colors. I always enjoy the drive down there, especially through Pennsylvania. So far the first day of the trip looks nice, although Sunday afternoon into evening might be rainy as I go down to West Virginia. Bummer. But at least it appears thatΒ I will be far enough south that I will have warm weather, while New York freezes that week.
Today will be sunny π, with a high of 72 degrees at 4pm. Four degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around September 17th. Maximum dew point of 51 at 11am. Calm wind becoming south around 6 mph in the afternoon. Should be a nice afternoon. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies in the morning, remaining cloudy in the afternoon. The high last year was 68 degrees. The record high of 89 was set in 2017.
The sun will set at 6:44 pm with dusk around 7:12 pm, which is one minute and 47 seconds earlier than yesterday. π At sunset, look for clear skies π and temperatures around 70 degrees. The dew point will be 49 degrees. There will be a south breeze at 7 mph. Today will have 11 hours and 56 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 53 seconds over yesterday.
Tonight will be mostly clear π, with a low of 55 degrees at 1am. Nine degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around September 8th. Maximum dew point of 50 at 6am. South wind 6 to 8 mph. In 2018, we had mostly clear skies in the evening, which became cloudy by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 52 degrees. The record low of 24 occurred back in 1947.
Tomorrow will have isolated showers and thunderstorms after 3pm. Mostly sunny π, with a high of 82 degrees at 4pm. 15 degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around August 9th. Maximum dew point of 65 at 5pm. Southwest wind 9 to 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies in the morning, remaining cloudy in the afternoon. The high last year was 62 degrees. The record high of 83 was set in 2014.
Tomorrow the plan is to go to the Guilderland library and continue scanning π· and copying documents for Save the Pine Bush. Then I might go for an afternoon hike in the Pine Bush. πΈ Assuming we don’t get a bad thunderstorm in the afternoon. The Pine Bush is beautiful this time of year.
Looking ahead to Sunday, mostly sunny, with a high near 70. North wind around 8 mph. β Maximum dew point of 56 at 6am. Typical average high for the weekend is 67 degrees.
Sunday I’ll hike Bennett Hill and probably go out to my parents house for Sunday dinner. π² I probably won’t stay overnight as I have to drop off my truck on Monday to get the squeaky wheel checked out. Plus I don’t want to drive at night in case I have problems. I am hoping that the issue isn’t major, but I’d rather have it fixed then get stranded somewheres in the back country of West Virginia.π§
Looking ahead, there are 5 weeks until November π₯§ when the sun will be setting at 5:48 pm with dusk at 6:18 pm. On that day in 2018, we had rain showers, mostly cloudy and temperatures between 59 and 48 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 54 degrees. We hit a record high of 78 back in 1950.
