At this point we are down to 60 degrees with the bright moon. The frogs are singing their song on this second evening of fall. Expect a low around 49 degrees tonight.

Ordered a set of overview maps for Monongahela National Forest and the George Washington National Forests. I couldn’t find a version online so I ordered them. I think I have a strategy for getting down there via the Allegheny National Forest, which will break up the trip and make it easier then heading diagonal across Pennsylvania and hitting the metropolitan traffic. Probably go down I-99 or maybe US 219 both of which avoid Pennsylvania’s major cities. Probably start in the Northern part of Monongahela NF and work my way south. On the way back I could go diagonally across Pennsylvania but then I risk hitting a lot of city traffic. Thinking of leaving for this trip the second week of October but I don’t have it off yet and still have a lot left to plan.
