September 21, 2019 Afternoon

Good afternoon! Sunny and 76 degrees at Moss Island in Little Falls. 🌞 Calm wind. The dew point is 58 degrees.

Started my day bright πŸ”† and early πŸŒ… before dawn and went to the Save the Pine Bush bird hike. 🐦 Saw lots of bird but I really need to invest in some good glass so I can see them better. I took all of these pictures in my big camera πŸ“· I’ll upload them later. So dark in the morning!

Now I’m hiking around Moss Island and Little Falls and plan to kayak a little ways on the Mohawk River. 🐸 Certainly a beautiful day, there was hardly any parking left at Moss Island when I got here. πŸ…Ώ Part of it is the Bridge from Little Falls is closed because they are repairing the canal wall and hydro dam.

This afternoon will be sunny 🌞, with a high of 79 degrees at 2pm. Nine degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around August 27th. Maximum dew point of 60 at 6pm. Calm wind. A year ago, we had partly cloudy skies. The high last year was 71 degrees. The record high of 95 was set in 1895.

The sun will set at 6:59 pm with dusk around 7:27 pm, which is one minute and 48 seconds earlier than yesterday. πŸŒ‡ At sunset, look for clear skies πŸŒ„ and temperatures around 75 degrees. The dew point will be 60 degrees. There will be a calm wind. Today will have 12 hours and 13 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 53 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will be mostly clear πŸŒƒ, with a low of 54 degrees at 4am. Five degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around September 11th. Maximum dew point of 60 at 6pm. Calm wind. In 2018, we had cloudy skies in the evening, which became mostly clear by the early hours of the morning. It was somewhat humid. It got down to 51 degrees. The record low of 31 occurred back in 1962.

Might hike the Erie Canal Trail through the Gorge later on, get ice cream 🍦and maybe dinner at Green Acres Drive In and then camping up at Pisceo-Powley Road. β›Ί So far it’s been a great day and the best is yet to come! The biggest threat to my day is the lack of daylight, as it’s almost autumn but it’s a beautiful day! πŸ‚ Some nice colors are starting to pop up around Charleston Four Corners and the higher elevation parts of Schoharie County. Hoping for more color up north.

Looking ahead, there are 4 weeks until Northern Zone Regular Season Opens 🦌 when the sun will be setting at 6:10 pm with dusk at 6:39 pm. On that day in 2018, we had partly sunny and temperatures between 60 and 29 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 59 degrees. We hit a record high of 79 back in 1963.
