Good morning. Last work day of the year as I have New Years Eve off. 36 degrees, gray, and lots of slop out there. People wanted the snow but now that it’s here it’s pretty ugly. Light drizzle coming down. Forty degrees later but not much more sun. NYE will partly cloudy and become cloudy in the evening with a high around 41.
Feeling a little bit better but not great. I feel like I’m at least half conscious today and not the intoxicated half out of it feeling of yesterday. I always have sinus infections and colds this time of year. Hopefully if I go camping this weekend for NYE I will feel better with the cold, crisp weather.
I noticed my truck battery was a bit below 12.6 yesterday (like 12.55) so I started it up. Paranoid questions remain in my head on whether or not I have a battery or alternator problem. I probably should get a free test at AutoZone, and call it good. If I have actual problems, I should take it to a garage where they can run it through more extensive test. It’s putting out a healthy voltage when running but I’ve noticed a voltage sag when parked for a few days, especially when I’ve taken many short trips (under 5 miles) before. This may be normal, I’ve never had a voltage meter in the truck until this year.
I am still looking to head up to the Adirondacks for NYE but it’s possible I’ll instead end up camping locally. I will keep a close eye on the battery and if I notice any other things out of the ordinary, I’ll stay locally. It was fine last weekend though, so I don’t anticipate any problems going forward. If I go to the Adirondacks, I’m looking at tent camping at the East Branch of the Scanadaga River and then climbing Hackensack Mountain in Warrensburg. One concern I also have is with lake effect snow. I probably will park along the road and hike back, but it lake effect snow could make the even state roads pretty slick up there on Friday.
