May 2, 2021 Morning

Good morning! Happy Sunday! ⛪ First Sunday in May. Feels kind of cold but definitely very blue with a few clouds pushing in. Next Sunday is Mothers Day 👩‍ . I think I’ve been called a mother a few times before, and your mother won’t be happy if you don’t remind her next week. Partly sunny and 51 degrees in Delmar, NY. 🌞 There is a south breeze at 7 mph. 🍃.

Yesterday, I discovered the wonderful world of TikTok. 👪 A lot of silly redneck videos, with well, rednecks doing redneck things like driving around jacked up trucks, milking cows, spreading manure, burning trash, shooting guns and hunting/fishing. All with thick accents and lots of black smoke. Fun stuff. 🔫 🔥 🤠 🐮 🐄 I just like seeing the other world where people aren’t leaving the life dictated by the greenies, where they have land and live their own life without so much regulation and feeling like they have to be virtuous every hour of their life.

I also went for a couple hour walk out to and around Five Rivers. 🚶‍♀️ 🐸 It was nice with a lot of new birds compared to even a few weeks ago. While there certainly were song sparrows and starling around, there also was another bird I couldn’t easily identify and Merlin isn’t coming up with answers. I am going to study the photos I took and take another stab with the Merlin Bird Identification app. 🐦

Then I got looking at various properties in Pennsylvania on the Land and Farm website. 🏡 Not because I’m in any rush to buy land or a cabin, but I wanted to get a better understanding of what is available at what price. It’s good to keep my focus on the goal, even if Pennsylvania isn’t necessarily how far south or west I will end up. That said, Penns has so many advantages over New York when it comes to gun laws and lack of restrictions on open burning and fires, and the backwoods culture is wonderful. 🔥 But there are many other states out there, and even far more open space when you get into the Appalachians, Midwest or even the true west. Folks have so much fun on the Tik-Tok. 😍 I love that website, it really is inspirational and wonderful and funny as shit.

Today will have a chance of showers, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 2pm. Sunny through mid morning, then becoming cloudy 🌞, with a high of 67 degrees at 2pm. Two degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around May 6th. Maximum dew point of 52 at 4pm. South wind around 8 mph becoming west in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies. The high last year was 72 degrees. The record high of 90 was set in 2018. There was a dusting of snow in 1986.❄

I am going to hike this morning at Papscanee Island Nature Preserve this morning and look at the birds 🐦 and then maybe later go to Walmart to pick up some supplies. 👜 I was going to go shopping on Thursday, too busy, Friday, too busy, Saturday I discovered TikTok and wasted my evening looking at properties on the Land and Farm website. LOL! 📱 But it’s a nice morning, so I’m going to do that first and then shower 🚿 before going out to the folks house. 🥞 Had a nice stack of apple pancakes from some mix I bought for camping but ended up eating at home. A lot of sugar, but sometimes you just gotta be bad.

Solar noon 🌞 is at 12:53 pm with sun having an altitude of 62.9° from the due south horizon (-8° vs. 6/21). On that day in 2020, we had cold day that was partly sunny and temperatures between 45 and 33 degrees. I was camping up on the East Branch, being super naughty when Coronavirus Unkles were telling everybody to be prisoners to their own homes. Stay home, jack-off, stay safe! I think it snowed that night. Just a dusting through. ❄️ But no black flies. The previous year wasn’t much better when I was up at Stewart Landing, though there was black flies. 🐜 Typically, the high temperature is 67 degrees. We hit a record high of 93 back in 1979.

Dirt Road

April 18, 2021 Morning

Good morning! Happy Average High is 60 🌷! Three weeks to Mothers Day 👩‍ . Soon time to get the Frank Zappa record out 🎼 while looking at the tulips at Washington Park. Mostly cloudy with a few breaks of sun and 42 degrees in Delmar, NY. ⛅ Calm wind.

Today will be partly sunny 🌞, with a high of 59 degrees at 2pm. One degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around April 17th. Northwest wind 3 to 8 mph. A year ago, we had cloudy skies in the morning with more sun in the afternoon. The high last year was 49 degrees. The record high of 90 was set in 1976. 2.7 inches of snow fell back in 1887.❄

No big plans for today, but after I take my shower 🛀 I’m thinking of hiking down to Van Dyke Preserve and then back out to Five Rivers. 🐦 I also have some coding projects I’m working on, along with fixing a long-standing bug in the blog code that occasionally causes posts to appear too early or stick on the front page when they shouldn’t appear. Kind of the same thing I did yesterday, spending several hours looking at birds and wildlife at Five Rivers, although with the cold wet weather, there were fewer wildlife but I think I spotted a piebald deer 🦌 but he was gone before I could get a picture.

Solar noon 🌞 is at 12:55 pm with sun having an altitude of 58.3° from the due south horizon (-12.5° vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 3.7 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour 🏅 starts at 7:03 pm with the sun in the west (280°). 📸

The sunset is in the west-northwest (286°) with the sun dropping below the horizon at 7:41 pm after setting for 3 minutes with dusk around 8:10 pm, which is one minute and 9 seconds later than yesterday. 🌇 At dusk you’ll see the First Quarter 🌓 Moon in the west-southwest (243°) at an altitude of 61° from the horizon, 245,556 miles away. 🚀 The best time to look at the stars is after 8:46 pm. At sunset, look for partly cloudy skies 🌃 and temperatures around 53 degrees. There will be a west-northwest breeze at 5 mph. Today will have 13 hours and 32 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 44 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will be partly cloudy 🌓, with a low of 39 degrees at 4am. Typical for tonight. West wind around 5 mph becoming calm after midnight. In 2020, we had clear skies in the evening, which became mostly clear by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 28 degrees. The record low of 18 occurred back in 1875.

Found another real long-standing bug on the blog. 🐞 For years, I’ve had issues with posts appearing too early and staying sticky on the blog. Turns out I was just missing the GMT date field on my blog, when creating new blog posts programmatically, Not sure how I missed that but I’ve been coding things incorrectly for years on the blog.

Been having more problems with my credit card. 💳 I went to buy milk yesterday, 🥛 and I was locked out of the card, with it declined at the retailer and I ended up paying cash. I got home and saw a few pending charges I did not make, so it looks like my card has been hacked again — only had the new card for a week and only so far bought milk with it and went to Walmart twice. I didn’t think it was that easy to hack the chip-on-cards as they use one-time tokens, and I haven’t swiped anywhere yet. Monitoring for other pending charges, but so far nothing. Hoping I won’t have to get yet another card. Need to get this figured out as I have to renew my cellphone/hotspot by Wednesday. Aggravating to say the least, especially as I don’t do much online shopping but I like the convenience of not having to have exact change.

Really hoping next week to get out of town. 🏕 It looks like by then the snow will be gone, and while Sunday is problematic, I think the weather will be a lot better for Saturday. 😎 Things could shift weather-wise, but I’m hopeful. Not sure if I will drive up north on Friday after my therapy session, or wait for Saturday morning early to head north and hike then camp. 🚘 Kind of would like to do two nights. It just seems like every weekend that I have free it turns out to be cloudy and rainy. And then we don’t end up getting much rain at all.

As previously noted, there are 3 weeks until Mothers Day 👩‍ when the sun will be setting at 8:04 pm with dusk at 8:36 pm. On that day in 2020, we had cold, partly sunny and temperatures between 45 and 33 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 67 degrees. We hit a record high of 93 back in 1979.

Last Week

April 17, 2021 Morning

Good morning! Happy Saturday. Finally the weekend! Two weeks to May 🕊 . Overcast, cold and gray around 39 degrees in Delmar, NY. ☁ Maybe a few breaks of sun 🌥 but hardly a banner day. There is a north-northwest breeze at 7 mph. 🍃. No snow locally, but certainly kind of a gray and cloudy day. The skies will clear tomorrow around noontime.

Today will be mostly cloudy 🌥, with a high of 53 degrees at 3pm. Six degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around April 4th. Northwest wind around 7 mph. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies in the morning, remaining cloudy in the afternoon. The high last year was 50 degrees. The record high of 91 was set in 2002. 0.3 inches of snow fell back in 1965.❄

While not the greatest day after 🌥 it looks like it is relatively dry and will be warm enough later on to go out to Five Rivers for some bird watching 🐦 and wildlife observation. 🐸 Been working on learning my bird calls better so I can spot the birdies without seeing them first. Not sure with the clouds, cool condition and breeze though I’ll see all that much.

I think I made the right decision to stay in town this weekend, 🏡 even thought I would have liked to gotten out of town. Next weekend though will be probably the last week without many black flies 🐜 in the Adirondacks, although if they are bad out come I can use the screen tent. 🎪 Next week looks better, although who knows it looks like we are heading to a cold and damp late April in long range. 🌧 🌺 When there is no hope, there is spring. Before you know it we will have 80 degree days and the muggers will be back. 🏊‍♀️ I guess rain is good in the sense it reduces the fire risk, but none of this clouds and no sky pee-pee, please.

Solar noon 🌞 is at 12:56 pm with sun having an altitude of 58° from the due south horizon (-12.8° vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 3.8 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour 🏅 starts at 7:02 pm with the sun in the west (279°). 📸

The sunset is in the west-northwest (285°) with the sun dropping below the horizon at 7:40 pm after setting for 2 minutes and 59 seconds with dusk around 8:09 pm, which is one minute and 8 seconds later than yesterday. 🌇 At dusk you’ll see the First Quarter 🌓 Moon in the west-southwest (256°) at an altitude of 52° from the horizon, 247,967 miles away. 🚀 The best time to look at the stars is after 8:45 pm. At sunset, look for mostly cloudy skies ☁ and temperatures around 50 degrees. There will be a north-northwest breeze at 5 mph. Today will have 13 hours and 29 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 43 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will be mostly cloudy 🌥, with a low of 37 degrees at 5am. One degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical night around April 15th. Light north wind. In 2020, we had light drizzle in the evening, which became cloudy by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 34 degrees. The record low of 21 occurred back in 1948.

I am watching the weekend forecast 😎 for next week, and while it looks a bit too promising at this point — usually a sunny weekend forecast turns to rain over the next 6 days — I am hopeful, and these days, one can only have hope for a better future. Maybe I can go north or west after my therapy session, as the days have gotten longer and I can buy wood so I have what I need for a fire 🔥 or maybe leave early Saturday, hike 🚶‍♀️ then camp. 🏕 I would kind of like to do the hiking option, kind of interested in exploring Pine Orchard, although I might want my muck boots with the mud being as deep as it likely is this time of year. 👢

As previously noted, there are 2 weeks until May 🕊 when the sun will be setting at 7:55 pm with dusk at 8:26 pm. It’s coming, note the black flies. 🐜 On that day in 2020, we had rain showers, partly sunny and temperatures between 61 and 49 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 65 degrees. We hit a record high of 86 back in 2001. We could certainly hit 80 degrees before that, although with the current weather pattern that seems unlikely.

Lean To With a View

April 11, 2021 Morning

Good morning! Happy Sunday. Next Sunday the Average High is 60. Partly cloudy and 58 degrees at the Five Rivers Environmental Education Center. 🌤️There is a southeast breeze at 6 mph. 🍃. The dew point is 52 degrees. The skies will clear Wednesday around 8 pm.

This morning I decided to walk down to Five Rivers 🐦 with my binoculars, scope out some birds and wildlife, enjoy the sun before the clouds push in for the day. 🚶🏻 Right now it’s a pretty nice morning but it’s not expected to last. Seeing a lot of wildlife at Five Rivers, the woodchuck is still hanging out under Radley Barn, spotted a different muskrat in a different pond today, red winged black bird, geese, chickadee, among others.

Today will have showers, mainly after 4pm. Cloudy 🌦, with a high of 64 degrees at 2pm. Eight degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around April 28th. Maximum dew point of 54 at 1pm. Southeast wind 6 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible. A year ago, we had cloudy skies in the morning with a few breaks of sun the afternoon. The high last year was 50 degrees. The record high of 87 was set in 2017. 1.7 inches of snow fell back in 1942.❄

This afternoon, I will head home and then out to the folks house for Sunday dinner. 🍲 Probably get there early so I can leave before dark with rain predicted. ☔ I don’t like driving in the rain after dark especially if I can avoid it on the rural roads.

Solar noon 🌞 is at 12:57 pm with sun having an altitude of 55.8° from the due south horizon (-15° vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 4.1 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour 🏅 starts at 6:56 pm with the sun in the west (276°). 📸 The sunset is in the west-northwest (282°) with the sun dropping below the horizon at 7:33 pm after setting for 2 minutes and 57 seconds with dusk around 8:02 pm, which is one minute and 9 seconds later than yesterday. 🌇 The best time to look at the stars is after 8:37 pm. At sunset, look for rain 🌧 and temperatures around 59 degrees. The dew point will be 49 degrees. There will be a east-southeast breeze at 9 mph. Today will have 13 hours and 13 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 49 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will have showers. 🌧 Low of 44 degrees at 6am. Eight degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around May 4th. East wind 6 to 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible. In 2020, we had clear skies in the evening, which became partly cloudy by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 29 degrees. The record low of 13 occurred back in 1874.

Yesterday, I went out to the Massachusetts – New York line 🗻 and hiked the Taconic Skyline ATV Trail to the CCC trail then down along the Taconic Crest Hiking Trail back to my truck. It was a nice day with lots of wildlife to observe. 🐸 Only saw one other person all day. Been taking photos with my good camera 📸 so I’ll have to upload them later.

While the week’s weather forecast isn’t great I have a lot planned. 🎣 Tuesday is my second COVID shot 💉 and therapy session 👤, and I have Friday off to spend a long weekend in the woods doing some fishing and camping. ⛺ Probably the ADKs but not opposed to Central NY if weather is better. The forecast isn’t perfect but it looks like we will be getting some rain ☔ this week which should make having a small fire 🔥 up in the woods relatively safe if I drown the coals when done. 💦 Looking forward to having the COVID shot done, and I think if I’m very transparent and forecoming in my therapy sessions it will be a a good investment – a hundred or two bucks in copay for higher wages 💵 and more confidence down the road.

As previously noted, next Sunday the Average High is 60 🌷 when the sun will be setting at 7:41 pm with dusk at 8:10 pm. On that day in 2020, we had snow showers, partly cloudy skies and temperatures between 49 and 34 degrees. Kind of a cold day. We hit a record high of 90 back in 1976.

 Rock Face at Oxbow Pond

April 3, 2021 Afternoon

Good afternoon! It’s the Saturday before Easter. 🐰 Sunny and 45 degrees at the Five Rivers Environmental Education Center. 🌞 There is a northwest breeze at 10 mph. 🍃. Temperatures will drop below freezing tonight. ☃️

I decided today should be like many Saturdays and just go for a nature walk at Five Rivers. 🐦 On this sunny but cold day there is a lot of nature out and about, birds, ducks 🦆 and I saw a muskrat and a ground hog behind the Radley barn. I thought about driving somewhere but with gas prices these days, ⛽ it’s better to stay home. 🏡

Cold enough last night 🌃 I had to put the heat on and sat by the electric space heater this morning. I’m ready to stop paying for heat especially as my door 🚪 in my apartment keeps getting more drafty as the sill rots away. I’m looking forward to being able to sleep 😴 with the windows open 🔳 as I sleep much better.

Been working on getting the updated Save the Pine Bush Website up and running. 🦋 While the code has been done for a while now, inevitably bugs 🐞 crop up after you go live. Plus I needed to set up the home page and sidebar which was out of date and couldn’t be automatically converted over. Check it out at savethepinebush.org. It’s mobile friendly and accessible. 📱

This afternoon will be sunny 🌞, with a high of 48 degrees at 3pm. Five degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around March 25th. Northwest wind around 10 mph. A year ago, we had light rain in the morning, which became light drizzle by afternoon. Breeze makes it feel cold. The high last year was 51 degrees. The record high of 79 was set in 1981. 11 inches of snow fell back in 1891.❄

I thought about going north this weekend ⛺ but I had to work on Good Friday ✝️ and everything is just in flux these days with work and working from camp is fine but not really that much fun. Work just eats up the daylight hours which you spend watching the meter on the solar panel. 🌞 And with that wind, especially up north it would be too cold to lay in the hammock even in the sun.

Solar noon 🌞 is at 12:59 pm with sun having an altitude of 52.8° from the due south horizon (-18° vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 4.5 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour 🏅 starts at 6:47 pm with the sun in the west (272°). 📸 The sunset is in the west (278°) with the sun dropping below the horizon at 7:24 pm after setting for 2 minutes and 55 seconds with dusk around 7:52 pm, which is one minute and 8 seconds later than yesterday. 🌇 The best time to look at the stars is after 8:27 pm. At sunset, look for mostly clear skies 🌄 and temperatures around 44 degrees. There will be a west-northwest breeze at 5 mph. Today will have 12 hours and 50 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 51 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will have increasing clouds ☁, with a low of 26 degrees at 5am. Seven degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical night around March 18th. Light and variable wind. In 2020, we had light drizzle in the evening, which became partly cloudy by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 46 degrees. The record low of 14 occurred back in 1954.

As previously noted, next Saturday is 8 PM Dusk 🌆 when the sun will be setting at 7:31 pm. On that day in 2020, we had partly sunny, snow showers and temperatures between 48 and 37 degrees. Kind of a cold day both today and last year. It happens in April. Typically, the high temperature is 56 degrees. We hit a record high of 86 back in 1922.

January 8, 2021 Morning

Good morning! Happy Bubble Bath Day 🧼 ! Never was into the bubble bath, but I do like the bubbly potholers on a hot summer day. 🏊 Three weeks to my 38th Birthday 🎉 . 17 years until I will be 55. That said I’m not sure if I will stick around in Albany for another decade and a half. 👴 So many things to do before then. Cloudy and 21 degrees in Delmar, NY. ☁ There is a north-northwest breeze at 7 mph. 🍃. There is a inch of snow on the ground. ☃ ️Things will start to thaw out at around 2 pm. 🌡️

Kind of a cold and gray morning. 🌥 I am rather disappointed with the weather. Fewer dog 🐶 walker to have to put the mask on for and step off the trail for on the era of THE COVID. Hopefully, we will have more sun later ☀ as I like looking at blue skies with the endless work zoom meetings of lately. ⌨️ Normally I mute 🔕 myself but lately with too many Ferris Buehler moments I left the microphone on and then my typing got picked up and I got yelled at during the meeting. I just find the phone zoom app is incredibly hard to unmute I a hurry. So it’s back to staring out the window. ⬜

I think today will be a work from home day, 🏠 that is after I go for my morning walk on this most cloudy start of day. ☁ Yesterday was so nice with all that sun to get the morning started, but that’s definitely not to be today. But hopefully it will get nicer once that high level front passes through. But I was hoping for seven days of blue skies in the morning, but that was not to be.We can have hopes for nice weather, but that rarely comes to be. But still I enjoy my morning walks. 🍳 I had a good pan of eggs with a chopped up ham-steak, broccoli, cheese and lots of coffee ☕ so I should have plenty of energy for the day. 💤 Slept well last night.

Today will be cloudy through mid morning, then gradual clearing ⛅, with a high of 34 degrees at 3pm. I am surprised how cloudy it out this morning. I thought the week was supposed to be a lot more sunny. Debbie downer I guess. Geos-East shows a row of clouds pushing through. Four degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around February 11th. Northwest wind 7 to 9 mph. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies in the morning, which became mostly clear by afternoon. The high last year was 39 degrees. The record high of 60 was set in 2008. 8.3 inches of snow fell back in 1923.❄

Solar noon 🌞 is at 12:03 pm with sun having an altitude of 25.2° from the due south horizon (-45.6° vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 12.8 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour 🏅 starts at 3:55 pm with the sun in the southwest (232°). 📸 The sunset is in the west-southwest (240°) with the sun dropping below the horizon at 4:40 pm after setting for 3 minutes and 22 seconds with dusk around 5:11 pm, which is one minute and 2 seconds later than yesterday. 🌇 The best time to look at the stars is after 5:47 pm. At sunset, look for mostly sunny skies 🌃 and temperatures around 32 degrees. There will be a north-northwest breeze at 7 mph. Today will have 9 hours and 14 minutes of daytime, an increase of one minute and 14 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will be mostly clear 🌃, with a low of 17 degrees at 6am. Two degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around February 11th. Maximum wind chill around 14 at 3am; Northwest wind 6 to 8 mph. In 2020, we had light snow in the evening, which tapered off and the skies become mostly clear and cold by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 13 degrees. The record low of -20 occurred back in 1968. But not 1968 cold, as it rarely gets that cold these days around here, but who knows with the polar vortex roaring around, although it seems unlikely to hit here in New York.

Tomorrow will be mostly sunny 🌞, with a high of 33 degrees at 1pm. Three degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around February 6th. Northwest wind 7 to 10 mph. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies in the morning, which became mostly clear by afternoon. The high last year was 30 degrees. The record high of 62 was set in 2008. 9.9 inches of snow fell back in 1953.❄

I haven’t decided yet for sure but I might just walk 🚶🏻 out to Five Rivers tomorrow 🐦 to watch the birds rather than driving anywhere. 🚘 I just washed my truck yesterday and I don’t want to get it dirty plus the fuel tank ⛽ is getting low and I don’t want to have to get gas until next week and I’ll save money 💵 by not visiting Aldi for even more groceries. Although I do also want to explore the Van Dyke Preserve which is near Meade’s Farm Road — never been there before, and it’s a short walk from the house. Maybe I’ll hike to the Van Dyke Preserve then out to Five Rivers. That will give me a full day of hiking and keep me busy if the weather is decent. I never trust the forecast these days.

Looking ahead to Sunday, mostly sunny, with a high near 34. 😎Northwest wind around 7 mph. Typical average high for the weekend is 30 degrees.

I am thinking Sunday I will go for a walk 🚶🏻around the Holt Preserve. Been a while since I was last there, and I don’t want to drive too far this weekend. 🚘 Close to home and it’s an easy drive out there without too many back roads to get my truck dirty with.

Finally got to the bank yesterday, 🏦 and got the stack of checks I had been hoarding into the bank. I’ve gotten good at driving my big jacked up truck to the ATM. 🏧 There was a big line at the bank drive through as all the interior banking facilities are closed due to the COVID, and I had trouble making the turn to get to the ATM but eventually traffic moved ahead, and with a little jumping of the curb with the back wheel of Big Red and some careful negotiation of the drive through, I made it there safely.

I wasn’t going to do the IRA thing this year in favor of a Roth, 💵 but after looking at my tax situation, I’ll probably do some of a regular IRA for part of $6k. If I do move to a low tax state in my later years for my homestead it won’t be that big of a deal, and if I have my own land, I’ll probably not be spending that much money on any particular year so my income will be lower. Then when I max out the IRA, I’ll just do the CD or investment account. Should do the trick. And I’ll keep looking at properties in rural Missouri and Neberaska to tease myself in thinking about a better tomorrow.

I also got a bunch of groceries, 🛍️ and cleaning supplies. 🧽 I bought this big bottle of ammonium – lemon cleaning solution and it stunk to high hell, 🦨 but it did a good job cleaning the kitchen and bathroom. At first I thought I thought there had been a mixture of some of the old residual chemicals and the ammonium producing noxious chloramine but no, it just was a lot more pungent 👃 then the other knock-off Pine Sol I normally get. The stink quickly dissipated though, and it was very effective at cleaning the floors and countertops. I am trying to spend a few hours year week cleaning to keep things a bit nicer around here. ☠ Probably toxic as hell but so be it. We live in a world of chemicals.

I haven’t seen any mice since the mouse I caught yesterday, 🐁 so that’s a good thing. I thought this would be a mice free winter, and until January 6th, that was the case. Then that one made a riotest appearance. Despite the news from that hick town some 500 miles south of me, I thought Wednesday was a pretty quiet day except for that one mouse I caught. I also bought more peanut butter for traps or to use with lunch.

The peanut butter will be good for snacks.🍪 I got kind of a sweet tooth when I got that big bag of Christmas cookies at Aldi’s two weeks ago, but I normally don’t have cookies or sweets at home, but a glob of peanut butter along with the frozen fruit in the freezer should help make up for it. I don’t like to have cookies at home, as they’re not healthy and there are a expense I can’t afford with my budget being as tight as it these days. 💸🚭 I’ll eat cookies and drink beer and maybe even drag on something when I’m camping but I refuse to do any of those vices at home.

I’ve been using less data then expected, 📶 so come April if I’m still working from home, I’ll probably switch back to the 10 GB hotspot plan and then back to the old, cheaper phone plan once I’m back to work again downtown. Right now, things are working out good, just spending one afternoon a week at the library parking lot when it’s not to cold to get the big files I need for mapping or other purposes. The extra $20 a month (or $10 if i go back to 10 GB) is reasonable these days with no or little bus fares to pay working from home. But I think I’d prefer to work down at the library or the park when the weather is nice and not have to be watching every megabyte on the gauge. 🔌 Then I’ll be just watching the watt-hour gauge and resetting the undervoltage relay when it clouds up too much.

As previously noted, there are 3 weeks until 38th Birthday 🎉 when the sun will be setting at 5:05 pm with dusk at 5:35 pm. On that day in 2020, we had partly cloudy skies 🌥 and temperatures between 35 and 19 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 31 degrees. We hit a record high of 54 back in 2002.

🌹🌻🌼Only 71 days remain until the first day of calendar spring!🌹🌻🌼 Tomorrow marks ten weeks until calendar spring. But sometimes we get nicer weather before then but who knows. It varies a lot from year to year, with sometimes the worse blizzards in late March, although that time of the year with average highs in the 40s, snow doesn’t last long.
