December 19, 2020 Morning

Good morning! Happy Saturday. A cold weekend ! Next Saturday is Boxing Day ๐ŸฅŠ. Mostly sunny and 5 degrees in Delmar, NY. Calm wind. There are 21 inches of snow on the ground. โ˜ƒ ๏ธThings will start to thaw out at tomorrow around noontime. ๐ŸŒก๏ธ

Today I’m heading out to Schodack Island to cross country ski ๐ŸŽฟ and watch the birds ๐Ÿฆ. But first I want it to warm up a bit. It’s a cold morning for sure but sunny. ๐ŸŒ… Then I plan to go to Aldi’s and get some groceries. ๐Ÿ›’

Today will be partly sunny ๐ŸŒž, with a high of 24 degrees at 3pm. 11 degrees below normal. Calm wind. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies in the morning with a few breaks of sun the afternoon. The high last year was 18 degrees. The record high of 54 was set in 1895. 7.8 inches of snow fell back in 2008.โ„

Solar noon ๐ŸŒž is at 11:54 am with sun having an altitude of 24ยฐ from the due south horizon (-46.9ยฐ vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 13.5 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour ๐Ÿ… starts at 3:39 pm with the sun in the southwest (230ยฐ). ๐Ÿ“ธ The sunset is in the west-southwest (238ยฐ) with the sun dropping below the horizon at 4:25 pm after setting for 3 minutes and 26 seconds with dusk around 4:56 pm, which is 24 seconds later than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ At dusk you’ll see the First Quarter ๐ŸŒ“ Moon in the south (187ยฐ) at an altitude of 33ยฐ from the horizon, 244,168 miles away. ๐Ÿš€ The best time to look at the stars is after 5:33 pm. At sunset, look for partly cloudy skies ๐ŸŒƒ and temperatures around 23 degrees. There will be a calm wind. Today will have 9 hours and 3 minutes of daytime, a decrease of 10 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will be mostly cloudy ๐ŸŒฅ, with a low of 18 degrees at 6pm. Two degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical night around December 24th. Maximum wind chill around 20 at 7pm; Calm wind. In 2019, we had cloudy skies in the evening, which became mostly clear by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 6 degrees. The record low of -19 occurred back in 1951.

They still haven’t gotten the sidewalks done on Elm Avenue or Delaware Avenue so I ended up walking on Cherry Avenue. ๐Ÿšถ๐Ÿป I am still a bit annoyed it but it was a big snow storm but I don’t like how they prioritize it over the sidewalks. At least I got a good 40 minutes outside tromping through the snow. ๐Ÿ‘ข No wind and with the thermal underwear it wasn’t too cool.

Working from home and now with the sidewalks full of snow ๐ŸŒจ, I feel so cooped up these days. I even did the days Zoom Meetings from home ๐Ÿ“น using my cellphone. It actually used less data than I expected but next week I’m upgrading to the unlimited mobile data / 20 GB Hotspot so I can make it through the winter when it’s too cold and dark to work at the library or park.

I have to renew my driver’s license again. I can do it online but I’m annoyed it’s $94.50 after just re-registered my truck. I do my eyes ๐Ÿ‘€ checked in a year but I should probably go to the eye doctor this year because I haven’t in two and a half years now. I ordered my last batch of contacts online and as the price has come down online and my prescription rarely changes I ordered a bigger than normal order. ๐Ÿ’ต Do I wait until the pandemic is over to get my eyes checked or do it now when it’s easier when working from home? I’ll have to think about it more.

Today in 1974, Nelson Rockefeller is sworn in as Vice President of the United States ๐Ÿ‘ด๐Ÿผ under President Gerald Ford under the provisions of the 25th Amendment to the United States Constitution. America ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ didn’t get an errection with Rockefeller unlike Albany when he got elected.

As previously noted, next Saturday is Boxing Day ๐ŸฅŠ when the sun will be setting at 4:28 pm with dusk at 5:00 pm. On that day in 2019, we had mostly cloudy, rain showers and temperatures between 41 and 27 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 33 degrees. We hit a record high of 59 back in 1895.

November 22, 2020 Morning

Good morning! Happy Sunday in Biden’s America. โ›ช Maybe he’ll get a chance to build it back better when the Trumpster stops being such a sore loser. ๐Ÿคก I think even Alfred E Smith was a better boy ๐Ÿง’๐Ÿป after he lost. At least Mr. Smith had a wonderful sense of humor and did a lot for NYC charities even while he ran the Liberty League. ๐Ÿ—ฝ Two weeks to First Sunday of Advent โœ๏ธ. Partly sunny and 33 degrees in Delmar, NY. There is a north-northeast breeze at 5 mph. ๐Ÿƒ. Temperatures will drop below freezing at Tuesday around 4 am. โ˜ƒ๏ธ

I slept like shit last night ๐Ÿคช because I didn’t have any sleeping pills ๐Ÿ’Š and I’m increasingly dependent on them to stay asleep during the winter months when I can’t have the windows open. I think I was also was just quite disturbed by how packed both the Albany Pine Bush and Crossgates Maul were during the pandemic. ๐ŸŒฒ At least the judge through us a pretty good bone when it comes to Saving the Pine Bush although I’m sure the Pyramid scheme and its enablers will appeal immediately ๐Ÿšง and it’s the fight of the twenties. Tried to sleep in to catch up on the hours I was awake most of the night but now I’m just tired ๐Ÿ˜ด and the remainder of the day will be cloudy and gray. โ˜๏ธ

Today will have a chance of rain, mainly after 3pm. Increasing clouds ๐ŸŒฅ, with a high of 40 degrees at 11am. Five degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around December 4th. Going to a rather chilly morning to say the least. North wind 5 to 7 mph becoming southeast in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies in the morning with some clearing in the afternoon. The high last year was 48 degrees. The record high of 70 was set in 1931. 9.1 inches of snow fell back in 1943.โ„

Today looks like a stay at home day. ๐Ÿก Sort of. I’m going out to the folks house later today for Sunday dinner ๐Ÿฒ but I don’t have any outdoors plans to day. ๐Ÿ“š I do want to look at library catalog ๐Ÿ“‡ online and think about reserving some books to pick up before the long holiday weekend. I have Buy Nothing Day off it would be good to get some books to read ๐Ÿ“– especially if I’m planning on going to the Adirondacks.

Solar noon ๐ŸŒž is at 11:43 am with sun having an altitude of 27.1ยฐ from the due south horizon (-43.7ยฐ vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 11.7 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour ๐Ÿ… starts at 3:45 pm with the sun in the southwest (235ยฐ). ๐Ÿ“ธ The sunset is in the west-southwest (243ยฐ) with the sun dropping below the horizon at 4:28 pm after setting for 3 minutes and 16 seconds with dusk around 4:58 pm, which is 39 seconds earlier than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ At dusk you’ll see the Waxing Gibbous ๐ŸŒ” Moon in the south-southeast (153ยฐ) at an altitude of 30ยฐ from the horizon, 245,651 miles away. ๐Ÿš€ The best time to look at the stars is after 5:34 pm. At sunset, look for rain showers ๐ŸŒง and temperatures around 37 degrees. There will be a southeast breeze at 7 mph. Today will have 9 hours and 31 minutes of daytime, a decrease of one minute and 51 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will rain, mainly after 11pm. ๐ŸŒง Low of 38 degrees at 6pm. 10 degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around October 15th. Southeast wind 8 to 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible. In 2019, we had clear skies in the evening, which became mostly clear by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 29 degrees. The record low of 4 occurred back in 2018.

It doesn’t look like we are going to get much snow or ice โ„ tonight and maybe the rain will wash the salt off the roads. I don’t think ๐Ÿค” I should count on an evening walk ๐Ÿšถ๐Ÿป but who knows, the rain may hold off. I’m hoping to stop somewhere and get more sleeping medication

As previously noted, there are 2 weeks until First Sunday of Advent โœ๏ธ when the sun will be setting at 4:22 pm with dusk at 4:53 pm. On that day in 2019, we had snow showers, cloudy and temperatures between 34 and 26 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 39 degrees. We hit a record high of 68 back in 2001.

Did Biden Create ‘Office of the President Elect’ To Undermine Trump?

Did Biden Create ‘Office of the President Elect’ To Undermine Trump?

Firstly, Biden did not create the “Office of the President Elect,” nor was he the first person to address the country under that title. A photographer for Getty Images captured Trump on Jan. 11, 2017, speaking at a podium decorated with the same phrase in the weeks after his 2016 victory over Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton.

Xinhua/Gary Hershorn via Getty Images Next, we sought evidence to confirm or deny that Biden was using the office as a political strategy to mislead Americans about voting results.

Looking at states’ Secretary of States’ websites, which are databases of official voter information, news media announced Biden secured the majority of the nation’s electoral votes — 270 — on Nov. 7. That announcement kicked off a series of steps outlined in the Constitution, federal statutes, and state laws to officiate Biden as America’s 46th President.

Two days later, Biden addressed the country at a podium decorated with a sign that read “the Office of the President Elect.” Opponents called such events premature since Trump had not conceded defeat and states had yet to certify voter tallies. However, it was not unusual for state election officials to take days, or weeks, to certify voter tallies and designate electors, and that process continues under federal laws regardless of a losing candidate’s willingness to acknowledge defeat.

Good morning! Happy Sunday. โ›ช America Recycles Day. โ™ป Three weeks to First Sunday of Advent โœ๏ธ. Mostly cloudy and 28 degrees in Delmar, NY. โ˜ There is a south-southeast breeze at 7 mph. ๐Ÿƒ. Things will start to thaw out at around 9 am. ๐ŸŒก๏ธ

Colder than I expected last night, โ„ I woke up in the middle of the night and decided that I should turn up the heat as it was frigid in bed. Ended up waking up in the middle of the night ๐ŸŒƒ and staying awake for a few hours before falling asleep for a few more hours.

Yesterday was another kind of boring day ๐Ÿ˜ด and I walked out to Five Rivers ๐Ÿฆ for a few hours. The bluebirds I saw along the lake were quite beautiful. It was a nice walk but by the time I got home, listened to the news ๐Ÿ“ฐ and had dinner I ended up putting some podcasts on and retiring for the day.

November 9, 2020 Morning

Good morning! Monday’s come back around again in Biden’s America. ๐Ÿ’ต I heard the future markets are on a tear this morning. All that stimulus money has to somewhere if it’s not going to cause inflation. Three weeks to Cyber Monday ๐Ÿ›๏ธ. Foggy and 44 degrees in Delmar, NY. ๐ŸŒซ Calm wind.

Back home and mostly unpacked. ๐Ÿก I thought about staying another day in Madison County ๐Ÿฎbut work days are inevitably long and dark when I’m not working. The flat solar panel doesn’t put out that much energy with the low sun angle.

Today will be sunny ๐ŸŒž, with a high of 71 degrees at 2pm. 20 degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around September 20th. Maximum dew point of 50 at 3pm. Light and variable wind. A year ago, we had cloudy skies in the morning with more sun in the afternoon. The high last year was 39 degrees. The record high of 71 was set in 1975. 10 inches of snow fell back in 1900.โ„

Solar noon ๐ŸŒž is at 11:40 am with sun having an altitude of 30.4ยฐ from the due south horizon (-40.5ยฐ vs. 6/21). At sunset, look for clear skies ๐ŸŒ„ and temperatures around 68 degrees. The dew point will be 50 degrees. There will be a calm wind. Today will have 9 hours and 58 minutes of daytime, a decrease of 2 minutes and 21 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will be mostly clear ๐ŸŒƒ, with a low of 41 degrees at 6am. Eight degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around October 12th. Light south wind. In 2019, we had clear skies in the evening, which became mostly clear by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 33 degrees. The record low of 16 occurred back in 1965.

A more normal weekend on tap. Saturday, mostly sunny, with a high near 49. ๐ŸŒ… Sunday, scattered rain and snow showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 48. Chance of precipitation is 50%. Typical average high for the weekend is 49 degrees.

I am thinking this will be a stay home ๐Ÿก weekend maybe go out to Five Rivers ๐Ÿฆ ๐Ÿธ for some wildlife observation but with the time change, I can’t go particularly late or it will be dangerous walking home.

November 2, 2020 Morning

Good morning! A frigid Monday’s come back around again in Trump’s America. โ„ Four weeks to Cyber Monday ๐Ÿ›๏ธ and Beaver Moon ๐ŸŒ•. Snow showers and 32 degrees in Delmar, NY. ๐ŸŒจ Breezy, ๏ธ17 mph breeze from the west-northwest ๐ŸŒฌ with gusts up to 30 mph ๐Ÿ’จ๐Ÿ’จ๐Ÿ’จ. The current wind chill is 21. Things will start to thaw out at around 9 am. ๐ŸŒก๏ธ

I decided it might be a wee bit too cold โ„ for my morning walk, ๐Ÿšถ๐Ÿป so I’m thinking I might pass on that. I may go downtown to the office today ๐Ÿข I’m a bit undecided on that but I’m definitely more productive when I’m not home with lots of distractions. Definitely a chilly start for November but that extra hour of sleep helps and that sleeping pill ๐Ÿ’Š meant I slept soundly.

Today will have a slight chance of snow showers before 11am. Partly sunny ๐ŸŒž, with a high of 38 degrees at 1pm. 15 degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around December 8th. Windy, with a northwest wind 17 to 22 mph increasing to 23 to 28 mph in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 49 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%. At sunset, look for partly clear skies ๐ŸŒ„ and temperatures around 36 degrees. The wind chill around sunset will be 24. โ˜ƒ๏ธ Breezy, 24 mph breeze โ›… from the west-northwest with gusts up to 44mph. Today will have 10 hours and 15 minutes of daytime, a decrease of 2 minutes and 32 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will snow showers likely before 3am, then a chance of rain and snow showers. Mostly cloudy ๐ŸŒง, with a low of 31 degrees at 6am. Four degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical night around November 17th. West wind 13 to 16 mph, with gusts as high as 28 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. Going to be a pretty nice weekend โ˜€ but possibly quite muddy after all the snow ๐ŸŒจ. I am hoping to get out of town this weekend but things could change between now and Friday.

Looking ahead, there are 4 weeks until Cyber Monday ๐Ÿ›๏ธ when the sun will be setting at 4:23 pm with dusk at 4:54 pm. On that day in 2019, we had mostly sunny and temperatures between 33 and 19 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 42 degrees. We hit a record high of 67 back in 1933.

 Paint Mine Falls

October 14, 2020 Morning

Good morning! What day is it? Hump Day, of course. ๐Ÿช I heard camel milk isn’t that good. ๐Ÿฅ› Two weeks to Average High is 55 ๐Ÿ‚. Winter is coming, probably in Biden’s America. Mostly sunny and 44 degrees in Delmar, NY. Calm wind.

It’s a pretty good morning โ˜€ but mornings are so dark. Out for the morning walk ๐Ÿšถ๐Ÿป and it’s quite nice with the leaves changing ๐Ÿ‚. I have to hurry back as I have to send in a revised memo ๐Ÿ“ after a client called ๐Ÿ“ž and wanted some changes. While it doesn’t seem like I’ll be able to head to Madison County tomorrow with the weather I’m thinking about maybe Friday or Saturday. โ›บ I still need to open up the boots ๐Ÿ‘ข I got yesterday as I’m am wearing the dressier black boots that I got for work during the winter months. โ„๏ธ

Today will have patchy fog before 9am. Otherwise, sunny ๐ŸŒž, with a high of 66 degrees at 2pm. Five degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around October 1st. Maximum dew point of 47 at 11am. Light west wind increasing to 5 to 10 mph in the morning. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies in the morning, remaining cloudy in the afternoon. The high last year was 71 degrees. The record high of 81 was set in 1920.

Solar noon ๐ŸŒž is at 12:42 pm with sun having an altitude of 39ยฐ from the due south horizon (-31.8ยฐ vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 7.4 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour ๐Ÿ… starts at 5:37 pm with the sun in the west-southwest (253ยฐ). ๐Ÿ“ธ The sunset is in the west (259ยฐ) with the sun dropping below the horizon at 6:15 pm after setting for 2 minutes and 57 seconds with dusk around 6:42 pm, which is one minute and 38 seconds earlier than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ The best time to look at the stars is after 7:16 pm. At sunset, look for mostly clear skies ๐ŸŒ„ and temperatures around 60 degrees. There will be a west-northwest breeze at 6 mph. Today will have 11 hours and 6 minutes of daytime, a decrease of 2 minutes and 48 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will be partly cloudy ๐ŸŒŒ, with a low of 45 degrees at 12am. Five degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around October 2nd. West wind around 5 mph becoming calm. In 2019, we had partly cloudy skies in the evening, which became mostly clear by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 39 degrees. The record low of 27 occurred back in 1978.

It looks like it will clear out for the weekend. ๐ŸŒ… Saturday, rain likely before 8am, then a chance of showers between 8am and 2pm. Mostly sunny, with a high near 56. Chance of precipitation is 60%. Sunday, mostly sunny, with a high near 59. Typical average high for the weekend is 59 degrees.

With the early sunset ๐ŸŒ‡ and the fact that usually the busiest hour of the day lately is five o’clock, ๐Ÿ•’ if I do go out to Madison County it will be on Saturday probably before sunrise ๐ŸŒ…. I have a Zoom Meeting on Monday so I’ll have to plan to use a library Wi-Fi and probably be home Tuesday for an in person meeting although I guess I could do a conference call with my excuse being that my arm ๐Ÿ™‹๐Ÿปโ€โ™‚๏ธ is in a (gun) sling. That said, I fully expect to spend the bulk of the weekend fielding calls and emails, writing and editing memos.

No news ๐Ÿ“ฐ on when the express bus ๐Ÿš service will be resuming downtown. ๐Ÿข They finally finished the work on Frank Fuller’s baby downtown, the South Maul Flyover and I’m hoping that they have service restored before I’m going to work downtown every day. I’m not looking forward to taking the crowded local ๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿ‘งโ€๐Ÿ‘ฆ downtown especially when the express is much easier. But who knows, the second wave ๐ŸŒŠ is coming.

In two weeks I’ll have to make sure to drop off my absentee ballot ๐Ÿ—ณ at the early vote โŽ site. While there are no competive elections locally I think it’s good to have on the public record โบ that I filled my protest vote with the board.

As previously noted, there are 2 weeks until Average High is 55 ๐Ÿ‚ when the sun will be setting at 5:53 pm with dusk at 6:22 pm. On that day in 2019, we had mostly cloudy and temperatures between 60 and 45 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 55 degrees. We hit a record high of 78 back in 1971.
